Topic: Fast Food Follies
There is a bunch of fast food workers who plan to strike in the USA, their demands is $15 an hour.
Now let us skip past that 99.9% of the population can do their job, let us not worry about the fact that long-term and normal unemployment combined is 25%, who cares about the fact that 50% of college students and young blacks cannot get jobs right now, and let us not even go into the recession.
Nope.
Let us instead talk of how this is already a failure which will cost them jobs. You see in Europe, in certain countries which like to tax, McDonalds is placing 6000 computerized tellers. Yes they replaced 25%-33% of their staff with automation. A customer picks an item, pays for it, and waits for it to be cooked... all without needing a clerk.
Let's also talk about the wage amount. $15 is $31,285 for a full time employee. That is higher than some cops get, firefighters, military, and other life protecting people. Additionally it is higher than skilled labor such as electricians, plumbers, web designers, and many (if not most) 2-4 year degree jobs.
These people think that flipping burgers is a career? It was never meant to be a career, it is a position with high turn-over for a reason. This is a stepping stone for students and those fresh out of school. When I delivered pizza I did not see it as my last job ever... no effing way! Additionally the competing stores which do not raise prices will devour those who do. So that makes the idea of the jobs lasting... a pipe-dream.
Ignoring that anyone who is not severely disabled can do your job is silly. Striking with the thought that you are irreplaceable is stupid. Many people even now cook burgers and fries at home when they want to. This is even more profoundly silly in the time of a great recession and with unemployment so very high.
This move is pushed by some fat cat unions who look to try to get a chance for more union dues. If it fails it does not harm them, they expend nothing to do this. Instead it is the simpletons who did not think first and went on strike who will be harmed. I, as a politician, have decided that any strikers deserve to be fired so they, and society, can learn the lesson of free market principles again. When these kids are done getting fired they wont be asking if you want to super size something, they will be cleaning the local sewer or bagging groceries. A lesson for them to learn... when you are a greedy child you will not get anywhere in life.

Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)
