Topic: Disabling bbcode

There have been some issues regarding the over-use of bbcode within the forums.  This was meant to be a helpful feature for everybody but it seems that the lack of rules regarding its usage is resulting in its abuse.

Until bbcode is accounted for in our forum rules, it will be disabled.  Unfortunately this includes quotes and links.

I'd like to remind everybody that the features within the forums that many of us enjoy (tag points, bbcode, avatars) are meant to make forum usage a more enjoyable experience.  However, this experience is tarnished for everybody when players do not post responsibly.  So please, follow the rules and use common sense.

If you have any issues with this, you can send me a private message via the forum.  For now, that feature will stay in place, unless/until bad apples ruin that for everybody else as well.

Re: Disabling bbcode

The following is a guide for all of us to use regarding bbcode usage.  BBcode is meant to be useful, and even fun.  However let's make sure we don't go crazy with it.

The rule guide can be found below.  There is a link to this post in the forum navigation bar as well.

BBCode Usage Rules

TEXT FORMATTING

Do not abuse/over-use text formatting codes.  This includes but is not limited to: bold, underlined, italics, colors, and heading text.
Do not abuse the quote or codeblock feature.
Do not abuse the list feature.

Unfortunately, what is "abuse" can be difficult to define.  When in doubt, format your posts conservatively and/or ask a staff member.  The staff reserves the right to edit your post's format without your permission if it is deemed a violation of these rules.

LINKS AND IMAGES

Do not link to websites of an offensive nature.  Do not post images that are offensive.

Unfortunately, what is "offensive" can be difficult to define.  When in doubt, refrain from posting the link or image and/or ask a staff member.  The staff reserves the right to remove links or images without your permission if they are deemed a violation of these rules.

1st WARNING: First violating post will be edited, and the posting player will be warned.
