Topic: Rpg

Long Time My Friends.............this place has changed. does not look to bee fun any more

Re: Rpg

Yeah, you've been away a while... a long while. We have a small core of third-generation RPers who call this place home, but most of the first-generation and second-generation RPers are long gone.

And we had a forum wipe while you were away... how convenient, eh?

Re: Rpg

Re: Rpg

If I was any good at roleplaying, I'd probably be considered second generation.  Instead, I've decided to focus on not being good at storytelling.
Welcome back anyway  And the same to any others like myself, who ended up back on this forum after basically doing nothing for ages.

You didn't read Neo Variety Hour, so they killed me.  But even death can not stop my awful, awful posts.

Re: Rpg

well well Zulu long time no see.

where are the times of thedance of blood and that frecked up thing called the pirates roleplay.

Re: Rpg

Hi (^_^)/ I would be third generation.

Re: Rpg

Hmm, in retrospect, what defines a 'generation' of RPers?

I've been going by forum wipes as a generational marker. I recall there being at least two, one between TLII:DR and TLIII:DL, and one between S:T2S and S:3TS. I have a strange feeling that there was another one before TLII:DR, but I don't know for sure. Can one of the other people who've been here _forever_ confirm that?

In the first case, that would place me as a 1st-generation RPer, and Salamandastron as a 2nd-generation RPer. Fokker, that would leave you as 2nd-generation, if not 1st-generation.

In the second case, increment those numbers by 1.

Re: Rpg

I only remember of the "test?" and the "rickroll" wipeout.  Welcome back, Zulu. smile

Re: Rpg

I think I've been around RP longer then Fokker, not really sure.

I remeber the rickroll wipeout sad

Re: Rpg

I've been around since borg posted tears here for the first time.

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: Rpg

Yet another specilized thread big_smile anywho my four years beat almost anyone elses and to be fair that would probably place me as second gen.  Third gen is probably best term for those "new" as the second generation kinda ended with a wimper so everyone after would be third gen.  And there have been many many forum wipes, but rick rolled probably the most famos.

I'm going to be nicer promise

Re: Rpg

Yeah, there aren't many first gens still here... Some of us are second gens, but there are plenty of first gens around here tongue

Re: Rpg

Okay, now we've got new terms (and I've been here long enough to know X().

Define:

* First Generation

* Second Generation

* Third Generation

Don't make it a one-liner.  Top definition will get a pat on the back from me and my blessing for...whatever.  Anyways, don't take it too seriously.  wink  I was always quite fond of Nerk's RP forum history. tongue

Re: Rpg

Ok I dnt know what gen I am'''''''''''' maybe  1st gen'''''''''''''' supall and borg would know the answer............. Darkmech maybe we should startup the Pirate  RPG again along with other RPG'S Ivw came up with

Re: Rpg

Hmm. I'll fire off a few definitions. Note that these are slightly different from the ones I used previously (see above post).

*Zeroth Generation RPers (!) originate from the Beginning of Time, even before the Founding Myths. There may be none - this category might be, in itself, a myth.

*First Generation RPers (c. 2000-2003) hail from a now-mythical Golden Age. They remember such classics as M.S. Wars, Half Moon, and The Legend. They remember the Player Rebellion, Mage Wars, Thomas Bas, and the war between Imperial Conflict and STAR WARS.

*Second Generation RPers (c. 2004-2005?) have felt the echoes of these founding myths. They were around to read The Legend II: Drake's Return and The Dance of Blood. They had the privilege of participating in an interstellar battle the likes of which have not been seen since, except perhaps in the Space series.

*Third Generation RPers (c. 2005-2008) are farther removed from the Golden Age, but still have been around to feel its lingering effects. They know of roleplays like The Legend III: Drake's Legacy, Space: The Story, and The Art of Diplomacy. At the tail end, they know of The Legend III: Lok, Lord of Demons, Space: The Second Story, and The Scinfari Sea.

*Fourth Generation RPers (c. 2008) are arriving at a time when the old classics are fading rapidly from consciousness. A few of the old classics have been excavated, thanks to the work of diligent archaeologists, and are being displayed for all to see. The fourth generation is growing up with Space: The Third Story, The New Tau, and Predator: Unbloods.

This definition would place me firmly within the second generation.

Re: Rpg

Hmm... your first generation needs to start a year or two earlier.
I didn't start Mage War until the 6th or 7th version of it, and that was in 2000 or 2001.  And that was a little bit into "The Golden Age."  I'd have to say first generation stretches to at least 2000.
I guess I'm first generation btw... man I'm old. ^_^
