Re: The Debate I

I only got a portion of it last night but the portion I did see...

Romney ate Obama's face, he laughed at Obama, he will be feasting on Obama's liver and spine this morning.

What a massacre.

And the polls support this, even leftist sites are reporting this.

Obama tried retort and frame job after retort and frame job.

Romney swatted them all down like a mountain lion would swat poodles down.

Discuss!

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Re: The Debate I

So Romney, the challenger, goes off on a tirade, unloads all of his ammunition in the first of 3 rounds and you're calling victory? lol

He did a great job of articulating himself but a large portion of what he said was bs and all he did was leave himself vulnerable. It was a good show but that's pretty much all it was. And that's about all he could do tbh after that stupid video was released. Obama did what he was supposed to do. Romney did what he was supposed to do. Pretty boring debate.

Re: The Debate I

Most incumbents lose the first round. Clinton was really the only exception.

Re: The Debate I

Its so easy to go on Obama cause he messed up almost everything. In that context its only a small victory. It also proves Romney is Obama II.

Re: The Debate I

If that helps you vote for Romney, he'll agree with you Little Paul.  Or not.  Whatever you need.

So..apparently unemployment is before 8% for the first in...some long time. Fuel for next debate?

Re: The Debate I

Simon the unemployment does not reflect more people NOT working than ever before (out of unemployment benefits also)

And then there is kids who get out of college and cannot find jobs (50% right now)

Re: The Debate I

Are you arguing unemployment is lower simply because fewer people are actively looking for jobs?

Brother Simon, Keeper of Ages, Defender of Faith.

Re: The Debate I

Yes, he is.  The unemployment statistics only measure people who are part of the workforce, which includes people actively seeking work.  Otherwise, you would have to count housewives, children, the retired, and all sorts of classes of people who aren't trying to work as "unemployed."  So yes, when a person stops seeking work, they are not counted as "unemployed" by that statistic.

Now, you may try combining that with other job data samples... but the unemployment rate by itself doesn't actually tell the story.

Re: The Debate I

What you should measure is total % of population who work.

Justinian, I'm gong to give you a little time to move that post into a new or appropriate thread before editing.  But this is clearly not a thread for that discussion.

What would that do for a society with higher proportion of old people or higher proportion of young people?

Well you will not see a surge of people born 55 years ago
you known about them for 55 years
