Nasty scenes happend on the RNC. Aggressive gagging of inner party opposition and extreme changes in the internal regulations to prevent any opposition on the RNC now and in the future. Plus adding high obstacles for republican candidates in the primaries. Oppoisition members were thrown out of the RNC by the security. This remembers on Putin and how Russia deals with opposition.

The so called new rules got gutted quickly in the face of Texas Tea Party Opposition.
A new compromise where pledges are pledged came out.
This probably was the whole goal the entire time. The Caucus States have made for embarrassments for no good reason and this sorta moves them in line.
Those Texans did good.
There are those worried about the 6 State bar being moved to 8 States...but the system still supports crossing the delegate hurdle... so either way not huge of a problem, just makes it so a competitor has to compete!

Yeah, Republicans have purged their party of social moderates, having called them traitors. My prediction is that a temporary alliance between fiscal conservatives/social moderates and democrats will mount against them, and the Republican party will either have a backlash purge of the social conservatives or it will become overshadowed by a new conservative party that is more liberal on social issues.
People on both sides of the aisle are recognizing that the GOP has been hijacked by extremists.

There are far-left crackpots, sure. But far-left crackpots do not represent the Democratic party, whereas far-right crackpots are now strongly representative of the Republican party.
Go ahead and spell out the far-left position on social issues so we can all know the difference between a "social extremist" and a "social moderate" from that end.
A far lefty would believe, among other things:
1. Distribute free-condoms to every middle school and high school.
2. Subsidize the cost of a new home by 50+% for the poor.
3. Subsidize the cost of higher education by 100%.
4. Legalize after-birth/partial birth abortions on demand.
5. Implement higher racial quotas for higher education and employment.
6. Let unions coerce employees in to joining the union.
7. Promote Multiculturalism.
8. Become so secular that mention of "Christmas" is shunned.
9. Decriminalize drugs like LSD.
10. Grant asylum to victims of third world oppression and give them generous welfare benefits, even if they have no marketable skills.
11. Criminalize the buying of sex, but not the sale of it (Sweden), because selling sex is violence against women.
Those are extremist social positions on the left. Although some of them cross in to economic policy, they qualify as social enough.
