Re: SS Tag

I have been trying to figure out a simple way to  help players who want to go self-sufficient to do so ethically and without hurting but actually helping their own fam.

This would restore some semblance of balance that was lost due to the introduction of the Sentinel Tag (which, ultimately, yet again, only provided another disproportionate advantage to larger fams).  Like the Sentinel tag was intended to help big fams protect themselves from getting cored by smaller fams (a perfectly legitimate tactic and should be allowed IMHO), the SS tag would allow a small fam's SS player to at the least deter large fams from coring smaller fams.

Unlike other tags, the fam leader can only issue this tag after it is requested by the player wishing to receive it.  This tag would be permanent - that is it would last the whole round.  The player tagged as such will experience the following specific effects:

- can no longer receive or send aid between family members
- can no longer swap planets with family members
- can no longer contribute to defense station funds
- is no longer under galactic overseer protection and therefore attacks conducted by them against players of larger fams will not break their fam's Galactic Overseer protection.  Also, they can attack any player regardless of fam or individual NW.
- cannot attack players of allied, napped or p-napped families
- players marked SS would receive an additional 10% attack and 10% income bonus
- SS player's score, NW, and planet count would not be calculated into their fam's total until EOR.

Re: SS Tag

I would hope this would lead to the beginning of the 'factions' idea I have mentioned before.

Eventually, there should be 3 types of 'Faction' tags, each a permanent, round-long tag: the good or 'Xentia' Faction tag, the evil or 'Xenox' Faction tag, and the neutral or 'Imperial' Faction tag.

Each tag would provide the player different corresponding benefits and restrictions:

Imperial Faction tag:
The player receiving this tag would join the Imperial Faction - the faction representing Emperor Stefan, the Emperor of the IC Universe.  The tag would provide the same benefits and restrictions as the general preliminary SS tag above, except they would have access to their own faction's galactic congress and they would be able to send and receive funds between other Imperial Faction members.  They would be able to attack Xenox and Xentia faction members regardless of their faction's, fam's, or even individual NW.

Xentia Faction tag:
They would essentially join the Xentia faction, where the Xentia faction would be able to send and receive aid between other Xentia faction members.  The Xentia-tagged player, as member of the Xentia faction, would have access to the Xentia faction galactic congress.  The Xentia tagged player would have same benefits and restrictions as the general SS-tagged player above, except they would not be able to attack players or fams of smaller NW, unless they have received an offensive attack or op from them first.  Their window of opportunity to retaliate against a smaller player or fam would close within 24 hours.  If attacked by a member of the Imperial faction, they would have the opportunity to retaliate against only that player and only during the 24 hours following the most recent attack.  They would be able to attack any player of the Xenox tag regardless of individual or fam NW.

Xenox Faction tag:
They would essentially join the Xenox faction, where the Xenox faction member would be able to send and receive aid to and from the Xenox faction leader.  The Xenox-tagged players, as faction members, would have their own Xenox faction galactic congress.  The Xenox-tagged player would receive the same benefits and restrictions as general SS-tagged player above, except they could only attack players or fams of smaller NW, regardless of individual or fam galactic overseer protection.  They would not be able to attack any player or fam of larger NW unless they have received an offensive attack or op from them first.  Their window of opportunity to retaliate would close within 24 hours.  If attacked by Imperial faction member of higher NW, they would likewise have the opportunity to retaliate against only that player and only during the 24 hours following the most recent attack.  They would be able to attack any Xentia tagged player regardless of individual or fam NW.

For a player to get the Xentia, Imperial, or Xenox tag, the player would have to submit a request to their fam leader, who, if is in agreement, would then send the request to get the respective faction leader's authorization.  Any number of a fam's players may join any of the factions.  In any family there can only be members of only one given faction (either Xentia, Xenox, or Imperial faction members).

In this way, the players as individuals and as a fam as a whole are left to decide to what extent and with what faction they might want to participate in the IC universal civil war that is about to erupt if this game isn't rebalanced soon...

Re: SS Tag

I think it would be better to have them mixed-in with the fams spread out all over the galaxy from the start.

They don't take away anything.  If they are really SS, they use what they start with only.

Re: SS Tag

Added two more effects and qualified another one:

- SS-tagged players are no longer affected by morale
- SS-tagged players are permitted to market aid' each other through (you know, like allied fams tend to do).
- SS-tagged player's score, NW, and planet count are not calculated into their fam's totals until EOR and only IF the SS player authorizes it.

Same as before:
- can no longer receive or send aid between family members
- can no longer swap planets with family members
- can no longer contribute to defense station funds
- is no longer under galactic overseer protection and therefore attacks conducted by them against players of larger fams will not break their fam's Galactic Overseer protection.  Also, they can attack any player regardless of fam or individual NW.
- cannot attack players of allied, napped or p-napped families
- players marked SS would receive an additional 10% attack and 10% income bonus

Re: SS Tag

They can't expo Bonus planets either..

lol

Re: SS Tag

don't wanna be rude, but this is total bullshit

Re: SS Tag

they should make Pw 1 man team galaxy. Then xeno can enjoy SSing wiyhout implementing all these options

Re: SS Tag

Idea revised on SS tag based on discussions re how Revalons are going to be getting exclusive access to the Sentinel tag:

- SS tag is called "neutral"

- tag comes into effect if both the player and the fam leader authorize it OR tag comes into effect automatically after a player has been marked rogue for 24 cumulative ticks over the course of a round
- receive a morale bonus (100% to 400%?)
- receive 10% attack and 10% income bonus
- access to the exempt galactic market - a market to which only other neutral players have access
- have access to a neutral galactic congress - a forum only other neutral players in a galaxy have access
- a neutral player's score, NW, and planet count are not calculated into their fam's totals until EOR and only IF the Neutral player authorizes it.
- can no longer receive or send aid between family members
- can no longer attack, be attacked by, or swap planets with other family members
- can no longer contribute to family's defense station funds
- is no longer under galactic overseer protections
- attacks conducted by them will not break their fam's galactic overseer protection.
- they can attack any player regardless of fam or individual NW unless that player's fam has allied, napped or p-napped the neutral player's fam.
- tag lasts for the whole round, cannot be removed, nor can any additional tag be attributed to that player

Having this "neutral" tag is a good first step towards implementing the factions idea I've mentioned before.

Re: SS Tag

I think we already have the code in the game for SS tag.  We can copy and tweak the code for vacation mode or the code for when mods block player's empire for cheating.
