Re: Bot players

The one problem of IC is population.

Why not make some bot under control of the family leader.

The bots do nothing til told.

They cannot attack.

If told to build something they build to specified amounts or til something runs out.

They can aid upon command.

The bots will explore the closest empties regardless of location (can get messy, but that's what you get tongue )

The bots can only build on the lowest built planet first.

Prior to start of round the fam leader designates banker or resourcer for their race.

Only infils will show which planets portalled if you don't send enough aid for a full portal (random portalling).

Primo would be kicked by bots for inactivity

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.

Re: Bot players

make a new galaxy

Ai vs Humans

kill all the Ai before they annihalate everyone.

would be cool that would.

Re: Bot players

This is a pretty interesting idea.  I can see this as a special galaxy, where players are allowed a certain number of "remote empires".

AI vs humans sounds pretty cool too, although defining how the AI behaves sounds like a pretty massive undertaking.

Still, very cool ideas.  I can see this being a nice balance to regular galaxies where inactivity can be an issue.

Re: Bot players

remote empires.... seriously, its just multi-ing.

why give them a bot, if u could also just give them a second account in the same fam. saves u alot of coding stuff wink its just an extra link on the account.php to another empire id (or however u distinct players in the db)

Re: Bot players

Well, I suppose the big difference is the automation part of it.  Instead of having to actually go log in and play as multiple people, it would be more of a high-level empire management kind of thing.  I can see handling the details of multiple accounts being quite overwhelming, but if they were more AI-like but able to follow simple and generic instructions, it's almost more like you're directing another player.

Re: Bot players

The active people wil benifit more from it. them being active allready give them plenty of advantiges allready, so therefor it wil increase the distance between active and casual players, hence i dont like the idea. if u would be able to qeue up things, would suit the less actives more

ea: build 2 explos, explore xx:xx:xx fb with xxx, in my eyes stil the same as controling multiple empires yourself though.

ai bots woud be nice but then more as enemy, a elite race dominating the galaxy, 150% speed 60% attack 50% rc, droids, to's 70% income. it wil hunt the top 3, and its the top fams job to fight them off, or to destroy them.

this would give top fams something to do, so they cant keep farming the small ones.
this way of ai, would suit ic and the community alot better.

meanwhile top fams r busy the rest can grow closer. fams wil think twice before jumping 3 poppers. ;p

Re: Bot players

let's say there is 100 players in a galaxy, create a galaxy of 100 fams.....one player per family....each player get 9 or 12 additional remote bots that this player can control

that sound a lot of fun....good experiment for one round :-)

But in abundance of counselors there is a victory."

Re: Bot players

it would definitely be a special galaxy.  i wouldn't think this is a good idea for the main galaxies either.

but a HC or VIP galaxy?   i don't see why not

Re: Bot players

i dont like the idea of controlling loads of accounts lol

1 in 3 galaxys is plentys :S

Ai would be a good option it would promote activity

Re: Bot players

Ok time to clarify

5 bots, you click a build box next to one, choose MFs (after it has been aided) and cf's next bot. You click build. They autobuild til out of something they need.

You notice that the banker has tons of gc and endu. You select to build soldiers. Click build and it maxes them.

You click 'return resources' and all five send you their stockpiles of gc and resources. You carefully mete out upkeep and food. All done.

Re: Bot players

how about you have the bots put in place right before a round starts to fill in the empty slots. that would help fill up fams. so some fams get bots, others may not need them.

as players random in, they could random into the bot's empire itself! so if it was a late round join and the bot was 3mil, the player jumps right into a 3mil account!
