Since we have a truther here, time to recount what these guys were.

Al Quieda started for fighting the Russians and removing them from Afghanistan. When this finished they started transitioning to an anti-America and anti-Israel terrorist group focusing on large, complex, operations.

The Taliban started during the years after the removal of the Russians. At first they were but a few hundred fighters. This changed when 15,000 Pakistani students arrived from Madrassa's in Pakistan to support the 'cause'.

Both groups worked together to seize Afghanistan but structurally they were different.

In their early victories they slaughted towns people in towns they captured. This included mass rape, killings, and torture.

As they gained more lands and arms they changed a little. Instead of wanton killing they became systematical in their efforts, singling out certain types of people.

Eventually the Taliban became recognized as the people who would control Afghanistan and Osama and his Al Quieda were considered 'honored guests' in the cause.

The Taliban sought international recognition and further reduced their killing sprees. However hate and bigotry was quite obvious in their policies.

The Taliban also took control of the opium trade and became for a while the major supplier of opium to the worlds addicts (Kemp probably has no problem with that part).

They instituted two very scary programs in Afghanistan on top of allowing training camps for Al Quieda. These programs were requiring arm bands for all non-Muslims (seperate versions for Jews, Buddhists, and so forth) and they started a 'no idols' policy.

During this time the Taliban destroyed an actual Wonder of the World... a mountain carved into the likeness of Buddha, as well as destroying countless religious artifacts for other religions.

If arm bands strikes a memory it should. Nazi Germany required badges or other identifications to mark Jews prior to the round ups, the Ghettos, the death camps.

Al Quieda meanwhile was persuing a recruitment and training plan. This included getting funds for complex plans. Training included chemistry, explosives manufactoring, planning, engineering (useful for identifying weakpoints on bridges and such), strategy and tactics.

This was a finishing school for dedicated and intelligent fighters. This training allowed the explosives to be made that were used in the attack on the USS Cole, the Embassy attacks, the military baracks attack, the Madrid train attack and more.

At first after 9-11 the United States was playing catchup on intel about Al Quieda and the Taliban.

However as evidence shows over time we took out the major operatives of the organization excepting a few. Each of those few remain in severe hiding as they (legitimately) fear for their lives.

The training potential operatives receive now is much less capable and it shows with the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, the Times Square bomber and the new underwear bomb plot.

While there are some operatives left with skill, Al Quieda has had no major success in the last few years and is experiencing cash problems as well as recruiting and organizational issues.

These organizations are evil, they will not stop planning harm to us so we should literally kill them off.
