I hope Adam Smith don't mind it! ![]()
Funny stuff.
Too bad if you don't find Marx an intellectual lightweight, you're dumb. ![]()
He's not an intellectual lightweight. But he was definitely wrong. And the world's most successful troll.
? He was an intellectual lightweight.
I do give him some credit for some of his observations, but where he went with them was completely off-the-wall ignorant and stupid.
He demonstrates in his work such ignorance and presumptuousness that I call him an intellectual lightweight. He was an academic with no real world work experience pretending he understood the psychology of working people and from what they derive satisfaction. It's just stupid. So much of what he bases his political philosophy on is just random ignorant presumptions he made with absolutely no basis in the real world. A man with more intellectual capacity would not have theorized beyond his ability. A man with more intellectual capacity would have discussed and theorized over his observations, not made things up as necessary to fill in the blanks and whitewash reality to reach the conclusions he wanted to reach.
I think it's a shame that so many intellectual lightweights give lip service to him to score points in the minds of other intellectually lacking fools. Content matters. When Marx makes up a bunch of shit he knows nothing about to support his conclusions, that matters. When people gloss over this because they want to score intelligence points in the minds of fools, that matters.
i was just hammered and posted a youtube video i heard years ago and for some reason i wanted to hear last night. didn't mean to start a marx debate or say i supported him
I started a thread
that had the whole net flaming
Oh but I didn't see
that the link would bite me
Kemp,
I think it's more appropriate to call him a charlatan. He was one of the most brilliant thinkers in human history, except he was a charlatan who produced fashionable nonsense that appealed to the ignorance of the masses. He was also an intellectual heir to the crackpot Hegel. Hegel has caused so much damage to Western intellectual development, he makes the Catholic Church look reasonable. Fortunately, the West has also produced excellent individuals like David Hume and Bertrand Russell. Sadly, the Hegelian crap dominates Continental Europe, and is corrupting the US and Britain.
Alan Sokal deserves a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
given who's got that medal when I get it * i will throw it over the fence of the Capitol
* for total win online
some jerks have got the Medal of Freedom
Same stance as AI here,
I'm not to great to admit Marx was a very smart man, but he got it wrong. Moreover, and also as Justinian has said, he -unfortunately- used his capacities to produce cheap but effective propaganda.
dpenguins,
I'm just making fun of him for being a moron--and, by extension, everyone with much respect for his ideas. It is a very funny video. ![]()
Justinian I,
What basis do you have to call him brilliant, let alone one of the most brilliant thinkers in human history?
i am surprised no one yet made a comment about comparing the one guy's pokemon shirt where the theme of that show/game is "gotta catch em all" and communism
In Soviet Russia Pokemon catch you
so true
In Soviet California unemployment creates jobs.
