Re: An interesting conversation last night

I talked with my land lords last night, a gay couple.

Got kinda interesting, as they are very fanatical about how they feel mistreated, and they are not interested in any half measures, or equivalents.

One was very loud in his opinion, in an angry at the system but not at E kinda way. Loud as in almost foaming at the mouth hollering.

He then said he expects Obama to get re-elected and to fix everything.

That's when he made an accusation that I could tell he felt was truth.

"The Tea Party wants to return to slavery".

I was shocked... then I put my foot in my mouth and uttered:

"I swear on my eternal soul I don't want that kind of slavery to happen again!" (I was being specific because I believe that there should be some allowance for a debtors system where they can work for their victims to pay off debts, as well as a dark streak in me that would make slaves outta Child Molestors and people giving drugs to children 12yo or younger to addict them to the drug)

That got him going off on religious nuts trying to take his rights away...

To which I said your rights, your business, nothing to bother me... and it went on for a little.

As a Christian I know I cannot force people on anything... they must seek to change by themselves.

But the other side is they flat out were frustrated with even an offer of another title for marriage to be fully equal and end the fight.

To which this post comes

They had some serious misbeliefs about my stands, and Conservatives, Tea Partys, Republicans, and such in general.

How can anyone believe we want slavery, that we won't give equality if one change is made at the Federal Level, or if a name change happens, or that their news is less biased than Fox News if they believe such!

*still in total shock over yesterday*

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)

time to move

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: An interesting conversation last night

"How can anyone believe we want slavery...."

People frequently attack straw-man arguments, because they're uninformed, stupid, and often don't have legitimate arguments to make.

I watched a liberal talking head yesterday respond to pro-capitalist arguments by suggesting his opponent wanted a repeal of child-labor laws. Because, clearly, people defending capitalism want to repeal child labor laws. That's what they're arguing for.

I think it's indicative of our therapeutic culture's tolerance of stupidity. Everyone is talked to like children (by public figures) all the time and most of us put up with it. Public discourse has degenerated into advertising where misleading, oversimplified messages are the norm.

One thing I find curious is that the dishonest messages more often come from the left. It's at least debatable how much the right wants to starve poor people and force your children to work 14 hour days. The left, on the other hand, really does want to confiscate all guns and institute full on socialism.
