with market we alow alot of diffrent playing styles and races..with no market its gone be quantam hell again ![]()
Most suggestions above, to my surprise, try to make SD a small MW. What for?
SD should have a "uniqueness" that distinguishes it from other galaxies, from the normal daily IC.
The uniqueness of SD could or should be 2 things:
1) hardcore (vs lots of extra rules in the other galaxies)
2) autarkic independent players (vs highly specialized roles and races in the other galaxies)
To achieve this:
1) HARDCORE
* hardcore rules (beta IC) with some modifications: no morale, no limits to spells (except first 48h), players can be killed, no NW-rules except for conquering buildings, max 6 explos/day, boosted gc and minerals at start
* no option to delete
* number of planets: player_number * 6 * 10 or less (free planets should run out after around 2 weeks)
* small map of just 1 quadrant, wrapped
* length of game max 1 month
2) AUTARKIC INDEPENDENT PLAYERS
If players find 1-player-families too lonely, there are 2 options without giving up the autarcic theme:
a) 1-player-families
* allow 2 allies and the usual access to each other's family forum
* NAPs are not illegal but can't be made formal via IC-interface
* market can be enabled or disabled
b) 4-6 player families
* disable aid
* no allies

Personally I found the idea to disable the market an intersting and refreshing thing. And it forces everybody to play/learn IC from scratch.
Yeah I dislike market, this makes it alot more interesting.
no 1 man fams....we want 3 man! we just had 1 man fam so switch it up!
2 man family would be cool. 4-6 is like a normal MW family. Because that's all the really active people you usually get anyway. and no market is great.
3 man fams, full draft and no market would be great. It gives the option for fams to have a little different setups compared to 2 man fams. In a 2 man you're fairly restricted as one guy will go banker and the other goes attacker/ressie.
With 3 man fams you can go eco heavy with 2 bankers 1 attacker/ressie, or go for a more balanced 1 bank 1 res 1 attack setup or even go for a single guy supporting 2 smaller HC attackers. This variation in setup will be a lot more interesting than SS SD was at least with everyone forced into the same style of play by there being no market.
I know 3 man has been done like that in the past before (at least I think it has? I wasn't around) but it seems a lot of people want it back!

Thats actually not something I'd considered before. What values would you fix it at though? Cash/resource income ratios vary a lot throughout a round.
You could argue that 8gc is the right level for iron, as a CF costs 120gc/10 iron = 200gc which is the same as an MF, and they would effectively produce the same amount. But then you have to consider income race bonus, and resource planet bonuses and the fact that CFs build faster, and so on, before you can reach a perfect value for iron. You will in practice never get the right value, and so it is always going to favour one strategy and then everyone will just end up doing the same thing again.
Another issue is how wide the buy/sell gap should be. If it could force people into going "SS" anyway as the market doesn't present very attractive prices.
I like the idea though but implementing it isn't as simple as first it seems imo.
IMO buy and sell should be close, as you want people to be able to rely on resourcees as main production.
Primo should probably be around 8 for iron yes, but it doesnt haev to be 100% figured out..
set it to 8, see hoe people adapt, and take it from there

what about solo, but you can control 2 empires on a team. Banker/ Attack, or Pax/HC attacker.
