For VIPs, as a part of the hotlist feature,

Make it so you can enable notifications for particular empires in your hotlist. As in, you are notified when they come online or go offline/idle on IC. This can be through a popup or automated ingame message.

i like it. makes the hotlist alot more useful. and an automated ingame msg similar to the one we get when joining a gal makes this fairly simple to implement (?)
