Topic: cant turn my monitor on

Ok so i had a power cut the other day, and now for some reason my moniter isnt going on, it flashes the green light to say its on standby, and when i unplug it from my laptop it says no signal. ive tried pressing fn+f4, but its still not going on, i have a spare monitor, but i cant use it unless i change my screen size, which i cant do with no screen, any idea how i fix this?

When u plg in a new screen, your computer should auto adjust the screen resolution.

Re: cant turn my monitor on

And why can't you change your screensize? Your laptop is the computer, just unplug it and adjust the screensize and plug in the new monitor and see if it works?

Also try to unplug your current monitor from the power, press the power button and keep holding it for 10 seconds. This releases any power which is still inside the monitor, plug it in and see if it works.

Is the laptop turned on? Also, is this monitor the inbuilt monitor of the laptop OR an external monitor? I'd imagine that it is external (since you are pushing fn+f4), so what happened to the internal monitor? Also, can you test the external monitor on another computer?

Re: cant turn my monitor on

My actual laptop screen is broken, thats why i have to use an external moniter. but ive mastered the art of loading it up in the dark. so its defo on, nothing im doing seems to be working, and yup, i thought my other moniter would auto size the screen, but its not happening sad

Re: cant turn my monitor on

Just a thought...if the power was cut, the computer might have sensed that the laptop was not shutdown properly, and as such is trying to load in Safe mode, which may not support a second monitor...load it up as per normal, and try to do a normal restart (alt + f4 > U, and keep repeating until it restarts)....just a thought...if a 2nd monitor didn't work, I would be inclined to say laptop issue, but even so, I recon it is just a problem with startup

Re: cant turn my monitor on
