Topic: Todays Lesson: Government Assistance versus Private Charity
Today was interesting.
I had three places to unload food. Specifcally a really nice set of salds, casseroles, and other stuff you will find in the fridge section of a deli. This is premium stuff.
So I get done at the last stop... and behold... there is a pallet five feet high with Potatoe Salads. 72 cases all told. And 12 containers per case.
Surprisingly everyone had signed that they had received all their product.
So who knows where the mistake happened.
So the boss says donate or throw away. I am not throwing away this!
So I start calling as I go to pick up a load of juice. I need a place open after 4pm for sure, as late as 5pm in the Phoenix Metro region.
I called three city run food banks, and a shelter. None will take me since it will be after their hours. This pallet is worth about $2600 in stores... and none wanted to stay to get it.
So I called a church run food bank. When I arrived they had called and gotten help from six volunteers, even though it was after their normal hours.
They quickly hand unloaded the pallet with me and I think the East Mesa Baptist Church will be giving many blessings in the coming days with this donation.
If I had not donated today I would have been forced to throw it away due to my pickup schedule.
This is why private charity will always trump government assistance.
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)
