ok so when I drink, I drink wine, and I always sit and read the label, being all like woo its got a lovely strawberry aroma with bits of watermelon and whatever the hell else it says on it.


but to me, all win tastes the same. lke a sort of sweet viniger.


are the labels nonsense? or can someone recomend me some wine that actually tastes like it says it tastes like?

its all opinion, cant remeber the exact source but there was a test done with wine experts & they couldnt tell the difference 1/2 the time between expensive & cheap plonk. Just find something you ple to drink & drink it, leave the snobbish ponciness for people who give a crap. maybe in company i can see the point but just learn a couple basice types that are good for certain foods say i.e. out with a girl

just to add, its something people do with anything, common now for beer snobs. while i understand things taste different people get too hung up on it, just enjoy big_smile

The idea of wine just as with whiskey is that you build a taste palette over time. The more you taste it the more you recognize different flavours.

thats knda what I'm on about tho, wine has been my drink of choice for like 7-8 years now, and  stll cant taste the difference tongue

the is a difference in flavor for wine depending upon how much and how often you drink, like Elrohir mentioned. Personally, I prefer merlot or pinot noir as good priced wine for good wine, although if I were to go fancy, cabernet is usually a better pick. not to mention it depends on the year, how long it has had time to ferment  et al.

One of the nice things about wine taste is that you normally can tell a tiny flavor difference in you drink it for a full week, one glass a day. Or might be you may notice a difference in the aroma. if you normally do not drink wine, then don't worry about the flavors, you might catch it if your taste buds are acute enough, but otherwise it doesn't really matter. It only matters if you're a connoisseur and appreciate the difference in flavors, years and styles. Although I am no connoisseur, I understand that each year a wine is made can make a difference on the wine; the flavor plays into the texture; the way it is made can change the texture or format of the drink, et al.

oh, to be on-topic..  petit verdot is a very nice, smooth red grape. try to find it whenever you can (it's kinda rare)

Try to find some info online. There are courses and methods in how to seperate the flavours on your tongue smile

Or else try to determine when a certain wine tasted good to you or not. I am sure there is some difference to that else you could just drink water tongue

Arby: A very strict mod, reminds me of a fat redneck who drives a truck around all day with a beer in one hand. I hated this guy at the start, however, I played a round in PW with him where he went as an anonymous player. Our fam got smashed up and everyone pretty much left. Arby stayed around and helped out the remaining family. At the end of the round he revealed himself.... My views on him have changed since. Your a good guy.....

If you cannot taste the difference then you cannot taste. Whether its wine or beer, there's huge differences in flavour. You cannot compare Carlsberg/Becks to a Leffe/Duvel.  The quality is massively different.

With wine, Blossom Hill is favourable to the pallette and consistent - it offends noone (like Heineken) but is hardly the pinnacle of wine-making.

You want a wine,  you buy grape wine.  You want something cloy and bubbly you get the white wine.  You want depth, and a bit of taste of the cedar barrel, you get the red wine.

You want something you can actually taste of an actual fruit, GET A FRUIT WINE!

Sheesh, they have Raspberry wine, they have peach wine, they have prune wine, they have wine that tastes like different fruit, because....they made it from that fruit? tongue

I was in my wine part of years, a decade ago, don't really do it anymore, but from time to time, I go for the Blackberry wine.  It's wine from red grapes, that has blackberry added to it.  Goes nice with blackberry cobbler...OH YAH!
