Topic: Rc vs. funding - Resourcer

First some basics: You use jumps. Meaning after this jump you don't build for several days. Lets say 6. (You jump these rc together with mfs, so you optimize your use of the con bonus you have).

This is an example: (no mf jump here, doesnt really affect comparison between funding vs rc)

1mil net (100% empire size costs)
Planets: 150
Space: 35.000
OB %: 500 - 600% -> 550% avg
Con bonus: 40% (you have this basic con because, whether you have rc or not) = 50.000.000 rc points

You build 35.000 rc

Cost = 25.000.000 mil cash. 35.000 rc mean 700.000 rc points each tick with no science bonus

6 days = 144 ticks. (15 ticks under construction) => ticks: 129

Total rc points earned: 90.300.000 rc points. vs 25.000.000 from funding

----------------

What happens to con? drops from 40% -> 36%. This requires 7mil rc to get back to same level. Still RC is up with 58.300.000 rc points

---------------

What about higher OB costs and increased empire size costs?

Since you jump after few days only you dont have to build or at least ob alot during these several days. Only getting to certain % on fresh planets. So wont cost alot more, and in fact if you add few more ticks in con you're even better off.

Ob costs... Well seems a shame, but demolish your rc's lads. Once your empire size costs will increase ob'ing ress buildings is damn expensive. If you can higher your con by demolishing (also mind your con will be higher before next jump since you invested 7mil rc points in this than with funding) you're way better off. Also if you don't demolish you're empire size cost are higher. Details but they do count after all.

At a certain point this is no more interesting. When your net gets too high your empire size costs will rise. Together with your ob costs since you'll be very high OB%. These combined make building rc quite uninteresting.

For example:

5mil net
500% empire size increased costs.
1000% OB

i think everyone can see this will cost loads more and now funding is more interesting (i think).

Any remarks? actually i'm just doing this to let them build me rc wink

Re: Rc vs. funding - Resourcer

OOOHHHH

Finally someone has an enlightened view on RCs

Ive always in all ym fams been advocating this sort of RC jump as oposed to funding, both for CF bankers and Resourcers. Although you are right in your last remark, it is better at lower overbuilds and lower networths

Although you are forgetting some important stuff:

Time value of money:
If you are not going to use your con science for 6 days, why invest into it so early? If you rather invest in another empires CFs or so, the money can multiply and when you need it into con in 5 days or so, the actual cost is alot less. This effect as you can see is then dependant on the alternatives you have within the family. If you have say a 72 tick repayment time of investment on other empires in the family, in 6 days the the 25 mill cash you invested could have been doubled twice, to 100 mill, wich is then effectively more expensive than your 93 mill of funding.

Ill work on more when i have time, but another thing i can just mention quickly is flexibility. If you are attacked or have to cancel a nap or something during thoose 6 days, youll hate yourself if u have a crazy amount of RCs

Re: Rc vs. funding - Resourcer

To your remarks:

I only invest in it last ticks. Which is logical ofcourse. Sorry i did not say that, seamed logical to me.

To your second remark: yeh thats true, but if for example you do this 5 times a round and all of a sudden you have to attack during the 3rth time you're doing this you'll have soo much more advantage thx to those 2 first times than from funding from the start on.

Actually i was working on a guide first, but then realized that takes to much time so i just wanted to point some things out. All very easy stuff, but seems ppl forget easy stuff easier than the difficult stuff.

But please give as many remarks as you can. Maybe once ill calculate at which point you better switch from rc to funding and other stuff. You never know. wink
