People want to know!
It was about the end of the second MS Wars when SupAll and maybe a few others decided to form RPA for a few reasons.
A: we wanted a separate forum to talk OOC about the games we were playing, it takes much less time to coordinate with multiple people on a forum than on aim, specially with the time zone differences and such.
B: sort of like a seal of approval, while people in RPA may not have been the most creative individuals it sorta represented that we were experienced enough to know the behavior expected in such games
C: that's all i remember right now :\
It was simpler than that - There was [TI] and [TiC] who enjoyed the General forums. So, we had [RPA] for the Roleplay forums. It became a more cohesive group as we tried to get a forum modder for the RP forums. Then there was ICRP forum that Algebra created. At first, it was a closed group but it eventually got to the point where anyone could put RPA in their name.
I was part of that last bit
TI is for noobs and wankers!
Then SupAll just let any old dumbass moderate the ICRP forum and thats when RPA died.
Chirp forum tags!
Wait, anyone could put RPA in their name? Last time I recall there was still some sort of application and procedure.
Back in ancient history, there was a procedure of sorts that involved being recognised as an exemplary roleplayer / writer by your peers. These days, the RPA tag isn't institutionalized anymore, though those of us who earned them the hard way still wear them with pride.
Find me in EVE. No, seriously. Do a character lookup. (The catch is, Matthias is actually my industry alt.)
I had earned it the hard way and I refuse to wear after that insane Estonian freak went all Khan on the RPA.
