Topic: Next ellections [sic]

What we already knew she now throws in our faces: Sarah Failing will run for president. Problem is, there is a chance she will make it as the candidate for the republicans and she has proven to be a complete failure in communicating towards moderate Americans. Not that I want her to win, I think she is largely incapable of ruling even a small town, but the immediate consequence is the victory of the democrat candidate.

So I guess Obama can continue his current policies without worries here. A complete disaster beyond repair.

The only hope lies in a good rep candidate surpassing Failings popularity, or democrats to replace their president with a better candidate. GL I would say.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

Oh, are there decent republicans then? tongue
Vote on something that's neither republican or democrat, and you'll do your political system a favour wink

Re: Next ellections [sic]

Disagree.  I know at least one possible candidate that's been showing off the fact that he's considering running.

Donald Trump has announced a while ago that he was considering running for President in 2012.  He has been particularly opposed to Obama with regards to US trade policy with China (Trump believes that the US should put an additional 25% tariff on all Chinese imports).  According to Trump, China has been deliberately devaluing their currency in order to gain a trade advantage against the US and become a global exporter.  Trump believes Obama has done little to assist the disparity.

If he does run for President, I think he's got an extremely good chance at winning.  This may seem odd, but Trump may be able to gain a level of personability in the election.  Before running, his TV series, "The Apprentice," introduced people to Donald Trump, the person.  In addition, in a recession period, people may see it beneficial to elect a person who came straight out of Wall Street to rebuild the economy, especially after Obama's years, in which the US tested a political novice as President.

Oh, and one more note: Trump has done this consideration before.  The only difference is that now, the Trump brand is much more widespread and well-known.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

I still say Ross Perot would have made an epic president.

☑ Saddam Hussein ☑ Osama Bin Laden ☐ Justin Bieber

Re: Next ellections [sic]

Trump would be clobbered, he got sued a few years ago and testified in court and that transcript would finish him.

He testified that he described his investment in a development as a "50% interest" to prospective investors, even though he'd only put up 30% of the money, "because I put so much time and effort into helping them make the project work, I considered my interest to be half the project."

And Perot claimed to be chased onto his lawn by Black Panthers sent by the CIA.  Which is outrageous, when Black Panthers are sent by the CIA you invite them into the lounge for a drink and then gas them from the bunker control room.  That's what a President would do.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

1: Why does that transcript actually hurt Trump?  I really don't get how that hurts him at all.
2: That seems like a simple personal attack game, which won't fly.  When serious issues which affect people at a personal level, such as the economy, are the primary driving forces behind voting, personal attack games hardly work, unless they operate to undercut that person's credibility on a particular issue (see Angle vs. Reid).

Re: Next ellections [sic]

Many of us prefer a president who can tell the difference between 50% and 30%.  It matters 200% of the time.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

He does recognize the difference.  It's fairly common practice for partnerships to be created in which one person will invest more money, and the other person will invest more time (and be compensated additionally for the time investment).

Re: Next ellections [sic]

I hope that Palin is not nominated. She represents the faction of the religious right within the Republican party. Those mofos are disturbing as hell. Furthermore, Palin is a moron who has made foolish responses to questions asked by the press, and she didn't even know what the job of the VP was when she was on McCain's ticket.

Between Obama and Palin, I will go for Obama. However, I hope a moderate in the Republican party can win. By moderate I mean conservative on economic issues (pro business, low taxes, pro trade) and more liberal on social issues (pro abortion, no abstinence education and no imposing public morality).

Re: Next ellections [sic]

BS she knew it and Biden lied.  VP is president of the Senate and casts votes to break ties.

Better Obama than a RINO.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

What about Biden?

WTF? Did you hear her response? She did not describe the role of the VP accurately. Yes the office is president of the Senate, but that is mostly a ceremonial role. Her answer described it has having a considerably greater role in the legislature than it actually does.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

Nope.

PALIN: No, no. Of course, we know what a vice president does. And that

lol.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

most favorites fail in the race for US-presidency. last example: H. Clinton
Palin is good for propaganda and votes on the right, which means she'll be vice-president. the rep. candidate will be formed in the elections. someone mid-right, perhaps a general. a person with a career that tells of honour and "i love the US and i risked my life for it and god brought me through bad situations...". With this fields covered, he can charm the poitical center. Why a general? 1. There are enough. 2. The US is "at war". 3. a general is no politican and has nothing to do with the budget dept. 4. has per definition honour. 5. can claim to have served to protect the US. 6. can link his survival to direct help from god in a critical combat situation (if there is proof that such a situation took place in the past, i. e. vietnam, desert storm 1991). etc.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

S Failing now wants to ally with NK I heared. yikes

Re: Next ellections [sic]

might as well, since Obama won't do diddly to stop them

Re: Next ellections [sic]

He hasn't done anything in the past. I don't think he'll change his policy any time soon.
All in all its a good thing Failing messes up. I consider that good news. It enhances the chances of a serious republican candidate to win.

Re: Next ellections [sic]

Considering that a good portion of the Republican Party makes fun of the "religious right" and declares outright that nothing will be done to satisfy it, while making excuses about failing to eliminate any government program, I'd give Obama a 50% chance to be re-elected.  If teh Dem nominee is not Obama I give that Democrat a 75% chance.
