Our government is currently a laughing stock.

It's a sure sign their legal department is overstaffed and needs some cuts! When I worked for the belgian government, I saw a lot of these little departments finding things to do to justify their size and resource needs. Mostly they messed up the situation so that they had to hire more people to sort it our. Or hire an external consultant for an enormous fee because at least those were supposed to know what they're doing.
