Topic: Memorial Day

Let's test the clean up of the politics forum.

Monday we celebrate Memorial Day.

This is to honor all those who have given their life for their nation.

Let us choose some heros to celebrate who gave the ultimate price.

I celebrate three heros today.

One is an Ancestor, who gave his life at Concord Bridge, fighting in the first fight of this future (for him) nation we call the United States. I do not remember his name, its been a long time since I heard it, but his actions are not forgotten today.

The other two fought protecting other soldiers. They rescued all but one of a downed helicopter. Delta Force members SFC Shughart and MSG Gordon, were killed in action protecting Michael Durant, after successfully getting others to safety. The area in front of them was so littered with dead from multiple mob style attacks. The men used all their ammunition and gave Durant the only remaining weapon, a hand gun before they set out to get enemy weapons. While doing so they were killed.

These men volunteered repeatedly, to be turned down as to unsafe. They got permission and went in unassisted. They routed the enemy and moved wounded away as they could. They were surrounded with the last survivor of a downess helicopter and they had the enemy at their mercy until the ammunition ran out.

This in defense of another soldier. To me, a veteran, this is a most noble act, increased by the valor they put out. But the story ends not here.

Their enemy dragged their bodies in the streets. A horrific thing for men who had given their all. Never forget the enemy acted as animals to those they caught over there. Even Michael Durant was dragged, and though eventually released in an exchange, he had suffered mightily. These two soldiers died protecting him however, and earned the Congressional Medal of Honor for their actions that day.

For freedom, and for brotherhood. I salute these gentlmen this memorial day.

This is a thread of honor. I put mods on notice, and zarf. Threads wishing to attack can be made, and mocked, but this thread is ONLY TO HONOR FALLEN SOLDIERS!

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)

Re: Memorial Day

I don't think this belongs into politics. This is more of a community matter. And it won't get attacked or mocked there either.

[politics -> community]

God: Behold ye angels, I have created the ass.. Throughout the ages to come men and women shall grab hold of these and shout my name...

Re: Memorial Day

indeed good to remember the purpose of the day for those players in the us though its a good day to watch a war movie and heat up the grills

“I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”

Re: Memorial Day

God bless those who served, comfort those who lost, and remember those we forget.
