What do you people think? Does the US fit the description of an empire?

Well hypothetically speaking, the Canadian provinces would become states incorporated in our federation. The reverse (thought least likely) would also happen if our states incorporated themselves in to Canada. As for why we call them Canadians, well Canadans doesn't sound right when you speak it lol.

Well, I am not very happy about annexing Quebec. We can just let them be by themselves. But otherwise I think it might be neat. We have a lot in common culturally, and I'm guessing there would be many mutual economic advantages.

Yes I was on sufficiently on topic, or Yell would have modified it himself.

I know where NZ is. You are located somewhere to the right of Australia. I know that's vague, but hey it's better than some answers here.

But again, I know little of your political climate, only that you have a few debates regarding government hand outs for Aborigines. You also have some really odd and unique critters, like kangaroos and black swans! But really, what's the point of merging Aussie and NZ?

Fool,

But I feel uncomfortable in an environment with gays, because they will hit on you. They hit on you so much, you feel sorry for women who have to put up with horny men 24/7. I know because I have a gay friend, and he has introduced me to his friends. Not saying they are bad people, but it takes some adjustment to get used to being perceived as a piece off a**. Needless to say, I don't hang out with him or his friends very much anymore.

Fool,

We aren't talking about how people "should" feel, we are talking about how they actually do feel. How people actually do feel in the presence of x has a huge impact on decision making, and sometimes political decision making.

Noir,

Supposing that health care in Europe operates efficiently and effectively (it works), it does not mean you can reproduce the results in the US. Every country has its own unique circumstances, and Sloth's argument concludes that given conditions 1 and 2 socialized health care is impossible in the US. The way to dispute his argument is not to cite a European counter example with socialized health care and malpractice law suits because it misses the point. Instead you have to challenge the conditions he stated that obstruct having socialized health care in the US.

Those conditions are

1. If socialized health care, then health care employees could become government employees.
2. Government employees can not be sued in the US.

His argument is
1
2
___
3. Health care employees could not be sued in the US.

and

If 3, then influential lobbyists would gain sufficient political support to block it.

I'm actually not sure that 2 is true, and I don't think 1 is necessary.

Imperial, true. I don't actually know if #2 is true, but if they were to enact it then they would have to do something about #1.

I'm talking about the Theban sacred band, the Spartan army, and sometimes other Greek and ancient armies. You could improve combat effectiveness by having your military divisions full of horny gay lovers.

Of course, not that I think that should happen. It could be detrimental to morale given our current culture, but in a different culture (like some Greek cities) it could be very beneficial. Today, it would create divisions and mistrust having dudes hitting on heterosexuals, and that's an effect you don't want among troops.

Nobody bothered to recognize the stated conditions that

1. Health Care professionals would be government employees
2. Government employees can't be sued

Of course, that's assuming that 1 and 2 will occur.

Go Skoe!

Whatever Theo.

1. You have not proven that the coverage on the status of the race is considered in the study.
2. It is not fair if one candidate is bashed and another gets a free ride most of the time. I don't care if you call it deserved, it isn't fair coverage.
3. Can I call you?

Not really, because the social security cap is going up. That will add another 5% to the taxes of upper middle class people who mistakenly believe they are gaining a tax savings. Now I know he said that upper middle class incomes would have less income tax, but he never said anything about it being more than 10%.

Obama is going to increase funding to education and health care, but he's going to make the system worse. I have no problem funding education, but not until the frivolous programs are eliminated like sports teams, music, art and blah blah blah. What we need are free-market solutions to increase the efficiency of our public services, not more fuel to the fire or middle men.

avo,

Oh ok. Well for me, that would be a kind of hard decision to make, though I suppose I'd weigh in favor of Bush.

Gladiator,

No I love some democrats, like the Clintons. The Clintons are capable of being ruthless, have pragmatic positions, and generally have a free-market policy. The democrats I hate are the far-left crazies who are in coalition with Nancy Pelosi and Reid, and long ago chose to favor Obama for their benefit and oust the Clintons from power.

I don't hate Obama because he's black.

I hate him because of what he stands for, and the allies who brought him to power.

I hate him so much, I would rather have Colin Powell be Emperor (Yes I know he endorsed him).

I'm thinking ahead of myself, but it just may happen that with these conditions a general will overthrow the government if Obama wins. At last, America will be ruled by a monarch!

Yay yay yay yay!

If Obama gets assassinated, it will probably be staged by the CIA or some military agency.

Actually, a military coup is going to be the most possible than it has ever been since the early 1800s.
