That 42% taxes include all goverment services besides healthcare, longterm care insurance and unemployment insurance.. including all that you come to roughly 50% taxes IF you have to pay max taxes.

Do 50% income loss take away your economical freedom? (remember healthcare and all insurances are included in the 50% so you dont have to worry about them anymore).>

Yes it does.

50%? Ouch. Maybe I have a more efficient and less expensive alternative for all those services government is giving me, which is ofc always with poorer service and inflated prices.

Hell, maybe I don't want to invest in my health care, and instead want to risk it by investing in stocks for a bigger return later. If it turns out bad, then my fault.

I swear, economic freedom is trampled on because people are such immature children who aren't actively engaged in the services they pay for.

Do you think that paying 20-30% taxes takes away your economical freedom?>

Depends. 90% taxes definitely takes away my economic freedom. I'm a government spending minimalist, and I'm pretty sure that 20% is generally not an example of a minimalist government.

Schniepel,

You know what? I would assent to an autocratic government as long as it guaranteed economic freedom.

Political freedom? Social safety nets? Sure, take them away. But without economic freedom, there is no point in living.

Ok point taken.

I thought he was mentioning that as a reason for why he favored abortion.

However, Avo was arguing that abortion was not a sound economic policy. So it was argued lol. I gave up on the argument though because he was arguing in circles.

V.Kemp,

The drain on society is a valid point, if the reason a person is in favor of abortion is because of practical reasons.

It's like this

If A, then B
I disapprove of B
___

I disapprove of A

When it comes down to chemistry, nothing can be empiricly tested. There's always some sort of abstraction involved.....>

There's abstraction involved even when things are empirically testable.

But like I said, I am skeptical of theories that aren't falsifiable. They're better than religious theories and may be the best we have, but they deserve more skepticism than theories that can be.

Naw.

We added another What if! What if Judge Schnider didn't abuse his power?!

2,062

(22 replies, posted in Politics)

lol.

They both did not want the custody records released, desiring to protect their son. But Judge Schnider abused his power and released the records, and thus the public saw a glimmer of their private lives at sex clubs and his popularity fell real fast. This removed Obama's biggest obstacle to power. Had Schnider not committed that treacherous act, Obama would have been nothing more than a footnote in history.

Edit: This was a response to Avo's deleted post.

Kemp,

The Nazis pretty much figured out a way to maximize suffering by making a modification to the shape of the cross (and how the victim was tied), and they also removed the leg support.

Avo,

Even better. Had that punk judge not released the custody files regarding the divorce of Jeri (7 of 9) and Jack Ryan, which stated that a reason for their divorce was Jack's desire for them to have kinky sex at sex clubs in Paris, Jack Ryan would have defeated Obama for the Illinois senate seat.

Blame 7!

In recent history, the Nazis crucified Jews (although their methods weren't like the classical Romans, and were much more efficient and painful). Before the Nazis, the Samurai crucified Christian missionaries (and resembled Roman methods) trying to convert the population during the colonial period.

But yeah, Americans hate Atheists. They hate them more than they do Mexican people. Though I'm an Atheist, I have the advantage of concealment.

It has to do with status and mate selection.

If Obama showed up at your door with the secret service and asked if he could have sex with you, would you say yes or no? And why?

This is for strictly scientific purposes.

Thanks. But I honestly felt we were arguing in circles so I quit arguing about it.

Haha. A good point there.

I will say that quantum physics has kind of gone haywire, because they have produced theories (like parallel universes) that can not be empirically tested. They are better answers than say religious ones, but I am skeptical of theories that are only good enough as a model that explains the facts. Explaining the facts is great, but the theory also has to be falsifiable.

And I think we should continue funding quantum physics. Maybe it won't be useful in the short-run, but it's conceivable it will be in the long-run. Not to say we should fund it more than sciences that are immediately practical like chemistry, but it should be on the list of things that receive expedient funds.

ROFL. A fetus or embryo is a human being. It is a human being in a cellular or primitive stage of development. It's BS to conveniently define as human something that satisfies an arbitrarily specified event like birth or morphology rather than by its genotype. The genotype of a fetus or embryo is human, end of story. Biological classification is defined by genotype, and it becomes an arbitrary or potential slippery slope when we define it by phenotype. If we're going to define a human by an event or their morphology, then why not define human as a toddler when they talk or as people who have a particular skin color?

However, we don't have to consider abortion as murder. We don't consider all forms of terminating human life murder, such as state sponsored executions, man-slaughter, accidents or war. To kill is not always to murder, because murder is distinguished by its circumstances. Since it's an arbitrary way to organize types of killing based on their practical value, we can modify that organizer to not include abortion as murder. We can consider abortion perfectly acceptable and not a murder, and we should because it has practical value and we can get away with it, as I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Avo,

The only problem is that demand for adoptions exceed the supply of foster care parents. And that's just unwanted pregnancies that did not result with abortions.

When we consider class, I don't see what the point is. If you doom a large percentage of people who could be members of the middle class (which is doable for most people) in to poverty, you compromise the economy. This isn't just a matter of "oh we can replace them with someone somewhere," it's also a reduction of consumption which is a reduction of economic growth potential. So while you may be able to simply just replace a field with someone else, you are not considering that as people have more money, consumption goes up. When consumption goes up, the demand for new goods and services goes up. When the demand for new goods and services go up, so too do higher paying jobs.
