As the same thing can be said of many straight people, I don't understand your argument.

the argument was that not only does gay relationships have statistically harder times raising children, they arent necessary for happiness.

Just a few days ago I read in the Dutch Telegraaf (newspaper) that the Netherlands aids the most to 3rd world countries.
Compared to the US, the Netherlands is a tiny tiny country. You would find US somewhere 5th on the ladder.

So don't look at us, if you think why we say you're selfcentred, hated.

im not sure what its like atm, but acouple years ago, the US civilians spent more per capita on charity then any other nation. also, maybe americans shy away from aiding 3rd world countries because most of the time some warlord hordes the aid and it does no good?

but you dutchies should be proud of aiding warlords that oppress impoverished people more then anyone else smile

actually Han, im pretty sure Bush isnt giving them any of the bailout money. they're giving chrysler and GM 14 or 15Billion that was set aside a long time ago, to help the big three make their cars more fuel efficient..

and for the size the companies are, company jets and the bonuses the execs were getting were not out of line, and nowhere near the level the banks were doing before this crisis.

I Lol'ed at that tongue For the record, you are very wrong. There are some people who identify as being bisexual because they feel comfortable either in a "straight" relationship or "gay" relationship. The idea that love conquers all (including homosexuality) is almost as preposterous (sp?) as the idea that by confession perceived sins to a boggie man in the sky will make me want to sleep with women.

Avo, you should try getting to know a gay couple some time. Some of them are just as "devoted" to each other as a straight couple.

i dont doubt some are just as devoted to each other as straight couples. and my idea was not that love conquers all. my point was that gay people arent automatically miserable if they arent [w00f!] of their own sex. sex doesnty equal happiness, the two things are completely separate.

well, im not homophobic, im not a bigot, hell, im even friends with [THEM], im not threatened by two gay people being in love and getting married. if i get drunk and drive, its not going to effect your life, so you should let me live my life and get over it, right? statistically gay couples are worse at raising children. sure they're capable to raising a kid without [humpling] them over, just like a drunk is capable of driving all the way back to his house. that doesnt mean we should encourage the activity by giving them tax breaks for it.

wow, skoe, that was enlightening tongue really?

to extrapolate my point to fit skoe's language. WFS stated its pointless because all culture's view of civilized is biased by their culture, and because its biased by their culture, its pointless. and my point was that culture is an integral part of everyone's life, our culture is what separates us from men that first inhabited the earth, it gives us the knowledge and equipment we use every second of our life; our culture is essential and our culture's influence is everywhere that we are; to say something is pointless because our culture is biased, is in fact saying all our lives, everything we've ever experienced or thought, is pointless.

"Avo's joke was a strawman. He misrepresented his opponent's position and then attacked it instead of addressing the true position the poster was putting forward. Avo knows better. He's not stupid. Unless he thought he was addressing the idea the poster was putting forth...in which case, his response would be classified as stupid."

well, theo, to be honest, i didnt read the persons post, i saw the quote, ">I said that gays are being discriminated against for not being allowed to marry the person they love." and i purely responded to that. i'm not very familiar with the term, strawman, i never took a debate class or anything, so im going to let you two sort out what my intentions were smile

as for " Avo knows better. He's not stupid"  i liked it better when you were talking dirty to me tongue

So, homosexuality is a disease then?

well, it depends on who you ask. Disease just has a negative connotation, more then whats needed to describe homosexuality.

but it definitely fits the definition of disease "a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms"

yes there is. because there are a number of statistics that show disadvantages gay couples have over straight couples when it comes to things such as parenting. because statistically they're worse parents, you shouldnt encourage the formation of gay couples by recognizing marriages between them and giving them tax benefits from it. especially when its obvious that society's attitude towards gays has a large impact on the number of their members that become gay. and even more so because gay people can still have a completely happy life in a devoted straight relationship.

how is it any less gay then sticking his hand somewhere wet and then staring at his crotch?

and in real life i know someone who as a prank took a dump in someone's suitcase. and then the victim retaliated by throwing all the other guy's clothes in a shower and turning the shower on when the guy was sleeping, so the guy had to wear what he wore to sleep for several days, which included pajama bottoms that had a giant hole in the crotch area.

you guys are just wusses when it comes to pranks.

Jon Stewarts only argument is "i mean, come on!" and then everyone cheers and idiots thinks he won the argument.

"Avo's joke wasn't a strawman. He points out the inadequacy of the claim of discrimination."

exactly

"No you don't. I love her!"

only 1 way to solve this, pistols at dawn!!!

You could get a dramatic wetting by dumping the bowl of water on to his pants.

but that doesnt get the smell you get from pissing his pants. what you really got to do is piss on his crotch area while he's sleeping. so theres no doubt its urine and you get a dramatic wetting.

The thing is that only we in the west are so attached to it, while others don't mind it at all wink It's again something of the west we project on other civilizations. It's not necessairily something that points to inferiority.

every idea of what points to inferiority is culturally based....

i dont think rural locations or legalistic policy makes someone uncivilized. i think the only thing that makes China less civilized is the heavy amount of censorship the Chinese government uses. leaving the majority of the population in the dark about alot of topics of debate throughout the entire world would make them uncivilized in my opinion.
