i watched it again. and im going to have to disagree with you. they show one real struggle batman has with himself and its whether or not to turn himself in when the Joker demands it. which was a really stupid part of the movie. Some crazy guy threatens to kill people if the best law enforcment doesnt go to jail, pretty shallow for everyone especially batman himself to think he should turn himself in.

as for doing what it takes to capture Joker. he never breaks his one rule and doesnt show him struggling to keep that rule.

Also, the charecter, Rachael completely changed between the two movies, not just the actress playing her. her attitude was completely different. could of been two completely different characters.

Fokker ignores that the gloves lengthen fights, which makes boxing more entertaining to watch, which makes it more popular in general, and while boxing may average 5 deaths per year in the US, if Boxing wasnt so entertaining, it wouldnt be so popular, and if it wasnt so popular, alot of the kids that would be boxing would be in gangs, where there are much, much more fatalities; so in reality, boxing gloves saves alot more lives then it destroys.

"But then something ridiculous happened. Reagan came in and all hell broke loose. The Republican party shifted from its earlier pragmatism to be dominated by religious fanatics convinced of America's moral superiority."

i disagree, that happened before Reagan. What happened was the hippie movements of the late 60's early 70's alienated the older, conservative, and religious minded democrats from the party and they became republicans; Nixon's election showed this and the demographics of which states leaned to which side is practically the same today as it was when Nixon was elected. Reagen was able to destroy alot of the damage Carter had done while paying lip service to the religious fundamentalists. overall he did a pretty good job, imo.

"Your 100% anti-microsoft. You had made up your mind before you even tried the beta..."

not entirely; he would of liked it if it was ubuntu with the name "Microsoft" in it. but yeah, if everything isnt how he's used to it; the OS is bad in his mind. i believe the term for people like him is "Fanboy" he's an Ubuntu Fanboy.

the EU will probably also be banning Plasma TV's inorder to save electricity; so you euros will be doomed to watching the blurs that happen with LCD's with fast moving images, like sports.

to liven up debate in this thread: why do you prefer the dark knight over batman begins or why do you prefer batman begins over the dark knight.

i personally prefer batman begins. i think it is a much deeper movie, it has bruce struggling to cope with his parents death throughout the movie; with many foils and with all the battles being with himself more then the actual villians. conversely; in the dark knight i dont see any internal struggle within characters, bruce, rachael, the joker, and Harvey. they all have their own set of ideals that they arrogantly adhere to, and the struggle is purely external and petty. Eventually Dent has a change of heart, but they didnt do a decent job showing his internal struggle when it happened or even developed a decent enough relationship between him and rachael to warrant his extreme change.

motivation is one important quality for a leader; but US presidents dont have a problem with motivation to do well at their job.

"well this statement made it sound like you're only looking for IQ's."

ok, let me restate it for you then.

"
Avo, it takes a lot of smarts to get in, stay in, and graduate from one of the most prestigious universities in the WORLD, and one of the most rigurous programs(ESPECIALLY for law) in the world.

It's no walk in the park. Someone can't stand up one day and say, I'll go to Harvard Law School today."

im not saying it doesnt take work. im saying it doesnt prove he is any smarter then the average guy.

"your IQ is not the only measure of your smarts..."

i never claimed it was

"To make it to a prestigious university, it takes a lot more than book smarts, trust me on that!!!!!"

obviously

"I made it to my current uni over people who had upto a 5% better average than I did... I was short of the "requirement" by 3%...
I still made it over the "book nerds"..."

gratz.

"LMFAOO that was SO SO SO DAMN vague"

what did you expect me to say about them? their full name?!

". Even if that's true than that person had very rich parents"

umm, no, she didnt. infact she didnt end up going to Harvard because she couldnt afford it even with the scholarship

"ummm... so writing pretty good essays doesn't mean you're smart?
Only IQ's measure the intelligence of someone?"

writing good essays makes someone smart if making baskets makes professional basketball players smart.

"Avo, out of curiosity what program in what university/college did you pursue and/or get accepted in?"

i got into Purdue's Aerospace engineering prgram, which it is fourth in the coutnry; MIT was first (i was humble and didnt think i could get in) 2nd was Georgia tech (i didnt want to move to the South) 3rd was U of Michigan (i despise U of M) 4th Purdue, i got in and a scholarship.

"Avo, if you're saying that your parents were like that then I would've been even more motivated."

no, im saying why the hell do you think it takes incredible intelligence to get into Harvard. grade in highschool and college are a reflection of motivation more then anything else.

i never applied to Harvard, the college didnt appeal to me; someone in my class that was not of impressive intelligence or maturity or creativity did get into harvard and did get some type of scholarship. you do not need to be beyond amazing. its not like they give IQ tests to applicants and anyone scoring 160 or higher gets a scholarship. I bet Obama wrote a pretty good essay; which might of been the sole reason for the scholarship.
