And I'm sure you have evidence of that...

Seeing the world mechanically is a matter of strategy, not a limitation of the human experience.

While identifications of status and power vary in different cultures, a man's breadth and value of sexual options depend on his control of resources and status.

Brands = Status
Status = Power
Power = Get laid free card

Well, most people are extremely stupid, although phss is right that the abilities of the average person are understated. Superior intellect isn't a requirement to be wealthy or successful, nor to understand basic practical principles. And it's the stupidest thing I ever heard that government is altruistic. Selfishness is the rule of human behavior and human organizations.

I purchase products from slave labor (Nike) all the time, and without a second thought. The only people who care are people with a hyperactive and misfired empathy. In fact, it should be considered a psychological illness, and sadly a lot of liberals have it.

Wow someone's motivated by political principles rather than pragmatism. That's what's wrong with the world today. "You don't satisfy our beliefs. Therefore no business with you!"

Isn't government a supplier of services, like security? I mean, governments that fail at doing that get overthrown.

Of course they work together, because cooperation and passive aggression are less costly. But for me personally, I would like the media and union elites eliminated from power. Yes it will open a power vacuum that those others will fill, but I'll be better off, even if it's just a little.

Well, I consider the parasitic elite like unions and media to be worse than the political elite.

I rate the elites like this.

Big Business elites.
Political elites.
Parasitic elites.

None of them are very good, but giving the media to #2 sounds so much better smile.

Well you're right, I don't have a well thought out solution. I'm a good example of a slacker. But I like my solution better than the way it is now, although I recognize some people really hate it, and that's fine.. Nonetheless, I hate the way that the media presently behaves.

Let's compeltely ignore the good the press actually does and point out the things we dislike about it.  Good thing we are not trying to fairly judge the usefulness of the press in any form or fashion.

And IA... when your alternative is Nazi style anything you should know your in the wrong.

And yarr for pirate airwaves>

lol. While I rate Nazis low, I rate "fight injustice" and "equality!" liberal nutjobs lower. And I think a Nazi propaganda machine is pretty unlikely.

Otherwise, the press does very little good. Its bad far outweighs its good.

Free press means:

1. Manufacturing an asinine and frivolous issue to gain popular attention, like gay marriage.
2. Reporters don't report the news, they exaggerate and twist it to the extent that it is indistinguishable from a soap opera.
3. Maggot reporters disseminate frivolous information that appeal to people's sensitivities at considerable cost to business, like Bill Clinton's affair, Newt Gingrich and his many affairs, and a power plant that displaces native people.

So I say, no more freedom of the press. Let the government regulate it. The worst a government can do, like an elaborate nazi propaganda machine, is still preferable to the circus we have now that socially engineers people to be sensitive wimps.

The US murder rates are not high enough for me to care about changing the status quo. They may be higher than in Europe, but by and large we still have a life expectancy comparable to other Western countries. We value guns, and our security is not compromised enough for me to care about banning them.

They're right in the sense that America consumes more than the Earth's resources can sustain, and America will need to monopolize those resources to extend the time it can continue that consumption.

But, I sense an assumption that there needs to be an equal standard of living world wide, and that technology will not provide us with viable alternatives in the future. In that sense, I will say they're either wrong or assuming too much.

It goes to show that Iran really is fanatical, and all practical considerations they make are at the service of their ideological motivations. Russia is playing with fire by supporting them, and the West must eliminate their theocratic government for the sake of world peace.

Naw, compared to air power, infantry = pwned. Wars can be won with strategic bombing, that is if you have the American air force hehe.

Cool, so what do you do as a fire control man? jw.

Looks like we should concentrate on the US, as well as China:

1      United States        6,049,435     22.2 %
2      China and  Taiwan     5,010,170     18.4 %
     European Union     4,001,222     14.7 %
3      Russia                     1,524,993     5.6 %
4      India                        1,342,962     4.9 %
5      Japan                        1,257,963     4.6 %
6      Germany                   860,522     3.1 %
7      Canada                    639,403     2.3 %
8      United Kingdom     587,261     2.2 %
9      South Korea          465,643     1.7 %
10      Italy                     449,948     1.7 %

Yes I know about per capita, and fast growth - but 6mill is still the sinlge largest figure>

Yeah, well look at the EU lol. Trading industrial efficiency for less pollution, when in fact we are the most industrial country and we meet Western standards, while ignoring China, seems like a big power play if you ask me. I mean, what can you expect the US to do? Have extremely high pollution regulations compared to European states, or to reduce its industrial capacity? While you could have the US meet European standards, we aren't far behind and that would have a very marginal effect.
