occupying major buildings and smashing police cars are NOT passive resistance

the whole crisis looks more like city people not dealing with the fact that people from the rural areas can vote too...

"People who do not compete for sexual reproduction yet deliver service to a group seems perfectly logical to me."

service as in dressing up like a school girl and taking it up the bum for 50$?

Strategy TB: civilisation obviously, and Panzer general (only the first game) the heroes of might and magic series
Strategy RTS: it used to be C&C but the total war series really owns it; then also hearts of iron
FPS(also including third person and top down): return to castle wolfenstein at any time... (& Xcom & doom & duke nukem 3d back in their days)
Role playing game: the elder scrolls series
Simulator: probably... capitalism

"Come on, its not all 600 million being jerks

and Indians have burnt mosques plenty, i think that's one reason they got hit today"

by our standards the vast majority of men from non western cultures are total jerks towards their womenfolk; they're not deliberate jerks in the sense that they said to themselves let's be a total jerk towards our womenfolk as soon as they came out of the womb, but their cultural surroundings infected them with jerkiness

a similar infection takes place with many muslims; I'm not saying islam coulndn't be a huggly cuddely religion if you would rewrite age old festering jerkiness entrenched in it, but I'm saying that it isn't a huggly cuddely religion at present and people who claim otherwise should really look at the world and

also according to the news they were specifically seeking out americans and british, so it was not (at the very least not entirely) a local revenge killing (which would have been targetting hindu temples/religious figures anyway)

"Class is an irrelevant concept in Muslim theology.  All, apart from a very small few, have an identical relationship with their god (small "g" denoting my skepticism of faith as a whole) as long as they adhere to the 5 pillars of Islam - look them up and learn people."

They do what they do because they have no voice.

They do what they do because the majority are illiterate and cannot understand for themselves what contentious paragraphs in the Qu'ran actually mean.

They do what they do because they see no other way of combating the cancer that is capitalism.

They do what they do because they are desperately poor, desperately unhappy and believe such extreme actions will result in a life that will not be as brutal, nasty and short as their current one."

that is inaccurate smile

there are many explanations, icluding the fact that the cultures dominated by islam are mostly not very nice cultures and of course that islam is not a very nice religion; this is not surprising since its founder had extremely lousy moral credentials

to state that racism motivated the european colonisation of the world sounds really silly, can you cite an example of such historians?

protecting your own troops and keeping their morale high is not pampering them and it makes much sense for the military to protect the investments it puts into its human capital, I mean seriously what age do you live in... the 1800's?

"One thing that is not being mentioned in the media is the worrying accuracy of these attacks. Does anyone here actually think that this was an accidental discovery? Or that this ship was worth a lot, and it's cargo worth $100m USD? Highly unlikely. They were even operating outside their normal area of attacks ffs. These pirates are very modern, very well equipt, and knowledgeable. They know which ships are going to get them big pay days. The seizure of a Ukrainian ship carrying military hardware, and a huge oil tanker within, what, a month of each other? Again, they know what ships are carrying valuable cargo, and they know when/ where to hit them."

this could also simply be an indication of the size of the problem; these are ships that made the news because they are so special; but there are many more ships hijacked that don't; these pirates are quite professional in surprising ways (like listening in on transmissions and having material to detect conterfeit currency and stuff) tho so who knows
