rofl

So when allies needed help (yes, Devilz asked for help), and i jumped fleet to help them to hit the same fam, you accused me of wanting to steal their gains and farming them.  And now when you've taken 50+ planets off them in 24hrs, it's okay, and not farming?

Hypocrite much?

Ah well, gotta get those 350 planets somehow.  I mean, why give up your own built up planets, amirite?

lol, gotta love the "it's just one attacker" argument.

I mean, it's not as if he's SS and acting on his own tongue

Should happen technically, yea.

But I see little reason to change something that 'might' be complicated for little gain.  I mean, this affects only the pop bankers (1-2 in a fam?) and only maybe a few times in a round.  Waiting a day, isn't "that' bad.

But yea, at the tick would be nice!

Role specialisation in its current form, is definitely the most efficient way to do things.  eg:
3 SS players vs 1 Banker, 1 Resourcer, 1 Attacker - you'll be able to get maximum efficiency from the specialised roles.  This is why the game has evolved into team and now Fam bank styles of play.

However!  This has been, imo, the reason why IC has degraded.  Too many people are now no longer responsible for enough, and then this is a quick way to lose interest.

In my posts above, I've spoken about how people need to be responsible for their own empires.  Relying on only 1-2 people in a fam to set direction and tell you what to do, has hurt IC in the long run, imo.

So yep, role specialization imo needs to go.  And this is why I talk about a main galaxy incorporating SS play for everyone in a fam.  Easiest way (imo) to implement this in the short term, would be to have a gal like Pinwheel or Milky Way, with settings as normal, but just disable aid between empires and disable the market.  This way, you are tasked with fighting as well as infra on your own.  Take some iniatiaves, work as a team still, and have more control over the way you run your own empire.

Including distance into something like this, starts making it different to everyone.  You're giving an advantage to those who choose allies closer to themselves (this is in early explo phase), as opposed to those who might be spread far apart.

Anyway, I think theres a few things here, each to be treated as its own thing, for eg:
Allies as extended family - should we even be able to send aid to them?  This is probably the discussion that needs to happen first, before the mechanics of how to get aid to them.

Nope, it's stupid and its gone on a while.

You eliminate tactics like vote-switching before deadline.  This game isn't about unpredicatability from a host point of view.  If a deadline is given, it should be maintained.

I'm suprised from you Flint.  Given your belief in your mathematical ability and being precise, "close enough" shouldn't cut it.

Hell, if you don't want a deadline, don't give a time and just say "i'll close the phase when i feel like the right person is ahead in votes and fits in with my story and fun"

It makes sense that we can't aid allies directly like we can family members,

Why?

We can trade with other empires in the universe instantly via the Market.

I'm sure trading with our allies can be done instantly too.  With a Fee, ofcourse.

I never really like this argument in IC tongue

I mean ...you're comparing IC to real world mechanics?  There's a hell of a lot more in this game that you can get into in this game, that "does not make sense" tongue  ...I prefer to stay away from that tongue

there u go a lil story for ya

Sigh, I was hoping I wouldn't have to get into this for your sake.   But alas, now you have to go and libel.

For everyone who wants to know how it went down, it was like this:

  • All round I'd been patching things up with other fams and Lee and even players in our own fam.  Hell, we even almost lost 1 of our 2 bankers at round start.

  • More recently, Lee says he wants to cancel soon on another alliance.  I tell him I can't war this week because I'm busy.

  • Lee proceeds to cancel only on Hydro? Then a wrong fam? (which he renapped) for a 1v2.  Then makes some excuse to some people about dropping 84? lol

  • I login and realise, and I told him "gl in the war, I told you I can't fight"

  • Next login, he's renapped and god knows whats going on.

  • Future login, I come into chat and allies and a fam member are saying they need help with a fam.

  • I msg DDK and HOokers to see what's going on.  DDK says he doesn't care cos his own fam renegged on a deal he made so do whatever you want but to leave him alone.

  • I decide to step in and help our allies.

  • I use like 4-5 ticks of gc, and 10 ticks of iron to jump a lil fleet (yes, have had like 5k droids up until this point) to help out.

  • Devilz even asked to help Banker raid, but I said I wouldn't do that.  I don't farm people.

  • Lee logs in and totally flips out with comments like "cancel the fleet, or i'm gone", "i'm the leader so all fleet building goes through me" and "my decision is final".  Not to mention he thought I was doing it to steal war gains off our allies, lol.

  • Anyway, I had enough.  Told him he has every right to lead the way he wants, since we all vote for him as leader.  I just didn't want to play like that, so I gave up my planets and left.

  • 72/82 Cancelled and Lee pays 350 planets (lol) to re-nap.

  • End of Story, make up your own minds! smile

Also, I didn't want an EOR war - but you somehow got Lee to agree to that.

Anyway, I was leaving 78 before 72/82 cancellation came across smile  Me and Lee didn't get along on a few things, so I bowed out smile
