"SIX HUNDRED YEARS!"
If its true, it could be 100 or 1000 as well. You can only guess the amount, not the timescale.

Its not verified. But it would be a good thing if the world was less dependent on the uss... I mean Russia. It would also give us time to develop fusion and solve our energy question for ever. For now I remain skeptical however. I wait for this news to be confirmed by more then one source.

@justinian:
I never defended natural rights -whatever that means- like many anarchists do. My only point of debate was civil rights make for a more effective and productive econ and society.

O M G !

I have to grow 10 years older only to see IA doing this:
"My major concerns are that people are guaranteed economic liberty and civil rights that protect them from political abuses"
Especially the civil rights part. I remember a very long thread were we debated endlessly about it.

"There are no groups of these people."
There are significant large groups of them. There are many organizations (can it be more ironic?). There are also numerous fascist and communist organizations and many many others.

I doubt eg the local anarchy groep has much to do with the local Trotsky-fan groep. In fact they are known to beat each other often.(except maybe for the pacifists tongue)

Radical anarchists think less gov would be better. In theory thats no different from someone who believes in the final stage blabla.
But in reality many communists believe in more state and gov control.

That huge difference makes communists more dangerous in my eyes. To have no gov is very hard to achieve, and reversal till a certain point. To have to much of it, often becomes irreversible very quick. So I rather have one fanatic as the other in case one becomes to strong.

"Anarchists are communists, with a few exceptions who are all 12-14 years old. Get an education."
There is a huge difference between most self-proclaimed anarchists and most self-proclaimed communists -without going to symantics-. I also often disagree with both but to put them in one basket is to far off.

btw zarf,
still waiting for my reply on the copyright-thread. I'm a patient person. tongue

I do not believe there are many self-proclaimed anarchist that want to 100% abolish the state. Those are the radicals amongst the radicals.

Same way as many of us believers of the free market don't think everybody should be able to buy tanks or nuclear weapons.

"Might as well be 'we like plunder'"
i.m.o. its organizations plundering by the aid of a corrupt gov. If they are so holy about intellectual authors rights, then why don't THEY have the rights by law?

the internet is the free-markets reaction to this outrages theft. It effectively destroys the monopoly artificially created by the gov.

If we need at all cost a commy gov come in and ARTIFICIALLY create/protect an elite that has created its own monopoly that way, then why not protect the author/creator himself? The author can still pay the company all it wants afterwards.

Only in modern ages have we seen right-stealing companies who, with help of corrupt gov officials, stole from both authors and civilians. There would be little difference if the gov came in and taxed people and hand the money over to those companies.

Even in the middle ages, people could make a living of good music, and if they are good, they can do so now without gov bull.

As much as I dislike the guy, Romney isn't better. As V.kemp said, he would bring econ in order.

...Add to that he proly won't do his radical foreign agenda.(it will fade as election time promises)

Maybe next time reps elect a serious candidate as a result.

But it all doesn't matter as he doesn't stand a chance in hell.

Its about the only capacity this president has. If you wouldn't understand English, he appears to tell something intelligent and true. Unfortunately he uses this gift to steal money from the average Joe.

...is there a school to un-learn english?

idd. feels like we've lost already.

Obama's failure as a leader is proven and Romneys is predictable.

What the hell are you blabbering about flint? This is a sad sad day for America and row.

the third Reich was a very unstable regime. If they would have won the war, they would either become democratic - which is no difference from now-, or become like the USSR or NK.

For a long time it appeared to people that the USSR was on top off things (sputnik, first mane in space etc). Eisenhower knew that and lost elections over it. We now know the technology gap with the US was ever growing in favor of the us. Its always the same with these totalitarian regimes. The box looks good as long as you leave it closed.

Anywayz,

A lifeboat in space is much, much more costly as a lifeboat underground. A lifeboat underground is more difficult to destroy if build well. Yes ICBM's can reach the moon.

The effects of a nuclear winter far exceeds the 1-3 years of dust. Global climate and environment will be destabilized for decades or maybe centuries, dependent on what weapons used.

there are so many variables noone can predict what would happen.
- It all depends on what kind of nuclear weapon used and how many
- radiation depends on that too
- the extinction of many lifeforms is unpredictable
- the forming of large desserts
- the fierce storms
- the possible lack of an ozone layer

Its possible you have to maintain humanity underground and feed it for half a century before you can even start to rebuild a significant agriculture above. That is, if your shelter is not destroyed.

Bush did not "create" it. You give the guy to much credit, lol.

"But no, 2 wars and a retarded morguage laws / housemarket will no doubt have nothing to do with it"
Obama promised to stop those wars asap. Guess the asap detail was blowing in the wind.

a few problems:
1 the society would become dominantly female if you send away to many man. Most societies with an unhealthy mix of female/male population tend to be very inefficient.
2 as someone addressed before, the gene pool will become smaller. Deseases will strike.
3 families will become to large. Clan wars will erupt as in the old days. There will be less freedom for the youth to decide what to do with their life.
