my greatest concern is that we rely on these "renewable resources". the sun, the wind, and geothermal energy while they arent being fully harassed by humans, do have a significant effect on our environment, significant use on these products could have very significant effects on our environment..  while "renewable resources" might be a nice fix for global warming, because global warming is essentially a state where there is a surplus of energy in the atmosphere; reliance on use of teh surplus of energy in the atmosphere would cause a lack of energy in the atmosphere, a global cooling; and then we're [moo'd] unless we largely develop technologies not reliant on these "renewable resources" cold fusion probably being ideal...

When a weighted average of all other gasses with a green house effect with the percentage of that gas that's put in the atmosphere by humans is turns out only 0.38% of the green house effect is caused by humans. If there is a warming trend it's for all practical purposes natural and there's nothing we can do about it.

The end

hmmm, well is it not green house gasses that is the difference between the temperature being absolute zero and what it is across the world. so .38% of that being manmade sounds fairly significant imo...

the problem is starvation caused by overpopulation...

first of all, when a population is larger then the enviroment can support, you dont see extinction of the population, you just see a sharp drop off. the idea that humans are going to become extinct because of the large population is unlikely.

2nd, i never said that technology will fix the problem with overpopulation, but that it can. you're the man with some kind of fucked up faith. not faith that we will succeed, but faith that we will fail...  where is your crystal ball? with the insane rate technology has been increasing the last 50 odd years im amazed at your confidence that technology cant get far enough soon enough....

Quote me exactly, word for word.

To be honest I just want Avogadro to explain to me what on this worthless ball of rock makes him think we can copy god and simply make everything out of dirt when we've used up all available resources, but I doubt that will happen.

the subject i was talking about was that the max amount of human population the earth could sustain. at first you attacked my position, "You are aware that the Earth is finite, and therefore any natural resources are also finite, right? I ask because I get the impression from your post that you see them as infinite, or at least not finite enough for you to worry about it."  after i successfully defended my position, you changed the subject from what we are capable of to the morality of it... "I would think a Christian (of any sort) would have more respect for God's creation, regardless of how they define being given "dominion" of a world."

i never claimed we can copy god and make everything out of dirt. my argument is right now, we are not utilizing anywhere near all the resources we have available. im not purposing dirt being magically turned into something else. better technology leads to higher efficiency, making less wasted, meaning more can be supported. it also increases the product available to us. for example, technology that would either make the removal of salt from water cheaper, or make electricity in general cheaper, would lead to a greater amount of fresh water available to support a larger human population...

"The only alternative to Obama was McCain, in which case he would have been cast the 'New Bush' or
Bush 2.0!"

first of all, McCain wasnt the only option, there was a large array of democrats and republicans that ran for president; with the media's assistance, any of them could of probably become president... also, McCain did not have to be cast as Bush 2.0; it was your media's decision to do so and it was your media's gamble of the security of the world to do so... I would say the person most responsible for Obama becoming president is probably Bush. because Bush created such a hostility towards his party by the moderates that enabled such a liberal to win. so if anyone deserves the nobel prize for the change in direction, its Bush tongue

"He doesn't need power. A fresh image and new direction was all it took to turn
the media outlets all over the world."

any image other then Bush was a fresh image and a new direction as long as the media paints it as such, or are you inferring the guy had to be black?

"
Then you would have to agree with me. Or be a complete idiot. Which is it?"

agree with you on what? that Bush was internationally unpopular before he was ever elected? that it was because of negative media coverage? that the media could do that with anyone? the difference between Hitler being a Hero and a Tyrant by the masses is the difference in media coverage. it didnt take Obama becoming president to get another oppotunity to give the US a new image, it took simply the US following the normal law where a president is restricted to two terms...

no one is the average person... my posts were not directed to the average person...

No, the media generally masks the feelings of another countries population. Which is probably
why you never realised the growing resentment towards the Bush administration and U.S.
government."

hmmm, i remember since before the election where Bush won against Gore, the media emphisizing the unpopularity of Bush in other countries. and i remember that message being repeated several times in the media. i also remember in the media many reports of the Bush administration and the US government's popularity throughout the world plummeting.  there were several studies showing the outlook towards the US being at historic lows... so, no, that was never masked to americans... just keep talking out your ass though, its amusing...

That's...Pretty much what i've repeated a few times now.

no, you've been claiming he has been doing things... "-- Obama has actually contributed in some way to the global peace efforts"

> now whats so idiotic about that?

Because how you feel in your idealistic world is irrelevant to the feelings of
those living outside the U.S.

i think with the military and economic power the US has, the feelings and ideals of its citizens are very relevant to many of those living outside the US... i think these forums and people's responses to how i feel is also proof that it is relevant to you, or else you would of never responded...

Actually read my post and you'll realise i covered the fact that:

A) Bush/McCain don't have to be puppets. Its all about public image.
B) Obama didn't have to explicitly do anything. Its all about public image.
C) I don't need to know Bush/McCain. Its all about public image.

Now i know you might not be able to comprehend that -- having a double digit IQ and
all -- but at the very least please try not to dribble on the keyboard!

/facepalm

your argument is that Obama does not need to explicity do anything to deserve a nobel prize...

public image is the product of the media. if anyone deserves a nobel prize for obama's image, it should be them. but then again, the nobel prize has lost its meaning and is just become another tool of the media, but giving it to themselves would just be masturbation. and people that change their respect for the US as a country because the media has made the image of their president more favorable, are just puppets of the media; and i have no respect for them. now whats so idiotic about that?

615

(52 replies, posted in Politics)

The only thing that gave Obama a new image/mew promises is how the media covered him. what makes you think Bush is a puppet? what makes you think McCain is a puppet? you know neither of these men, and because of the way media world wide covers them, you delude yourself into thinking you know them, and thinking they're puppets.  So, no, Obama hasnt accomplished anything to deserve such a distinguished award and him accepting it is just him supporting deceiving the masses into believing that he has.

lmao.... we're the stupid ones? thats rich. you provide no support for your arguments other then flaming. Bush wouldnt of been president right now if Obama never existed. Obama has no credit for Bush not being president. maybe Bush would still be president if the american people supported it, but his approval rating was low and they wouldnt of supported it. if Obama hadnt won either Clinton of McCain would be president.  not only do you think you know someone that you dont and know that he wouldnt of done a better job gaining national support then Obama has, you claim to know the future and what methods will reduce the chances of another attack against the US on US soil in the longterm...

i am at the very least of gifted intelligence. you calling me stupid is really only discrediting yourself. your intolerance and insistence that people sharing different views then your own, only makes you look like a close-minded fool.

i do not believe that god exsists as a deity.  i think the concept of god was created by humans as perhap a "morale boost"  a planet without god's of any sort stands a chance on total anarchy or at least a slow rate of progress. but either way, evolution wont allow for it.  in fact, the concept of religion is a perfect example of evolution at its best.  religion play a huge role in our civilizations' development, without it, we would not(mabye never) have made it past the bronze age, evolution allowed for the possability for man to create yet their finest work of arts, "God".  Mandkind creates ideas and concepts for survival and social values, evolution gave us these abilities! GO EVO!!!

you argue that religion was a necessity that was needed to establish social values and a moral boost. so you think that atheists dont have social values and are more depressed then religious people? i find that hard to beleive...

i find it hard to believe that God created everything, he is just part of a religion that was made up, like many other religions out there that were made up, many have their own gods, maybe they created everything, i think not.

many of the greatest minds in history were religious people; while you may not beleive in a god, dont delude yourself into believing that the reason you dont beleive in a god is a result of your intelligence, IQ, education, or ability to think for yourself...
