Who invited TYMO?!
Orange=UD comments.
Keep in mind that there could still be adjustments made in the future. This was a major change, and there was only so much we could test based on theory/mod testing. Once we see it in action it's possible significant adjustments will be needed to maintain balance.
Questions I have:
- When is morale calculated? Upon sending fleet or at the moment of attacking?
[Answer: at the moment of attack] You will get an estimate when sending the fleet, but morale will actually be deducted at the moment of attack. This estimate may not reflect final morale loss as it calculates what the morale loss would be at the time the fleet is set.
- Is the max morale gain still limited tot 10 / tick?
[Answer: The cap on morale gain is unchanged at the moment, but it is on our list of variables to monitor and adjust accordingly
- Does the failure rate of ops still increase when doing multiple ops? So higher failure rate when morale is low?
[Answer: ??To my knowledge the failure rate was not adjusted(yet)
- Can we have paragraph in FAQ / Guide about the new morale system?
I'm hesitant to do this before this round is over as some of the variables are still fluid/subject to change as necessary. We can keep track of questions asked though to get an FAQ ready to go once everything is set.
- Can we get 2 examples of morale loss in the old and in the new system?
Reference case 1:
War
Attacker: 1001 planets, 4,2 Million NW
Defender: 210 planets, 2,6 Million NW
Morale loss in old system: Between -2% and -4%
Morale loss in new system: ????
Theoretically this can be done, but again the key factor will be that the NW of the families is taken into account now, not just the statistics of the individual player. If this isn't done before I get a break at work, I'll put it together
You're far from the first one to push for a mobile based UI. Unfortunately there's 0 desire on the developer's side to make this happen.
We're actually about to implement some big changes (like...within the next hour or so when SB ends) and we'll need something close to a standard round so we can gauge whether or not adjustments will need to be made ![]()
Part of the reason, IMO, Supernova is still recommended for new players is that our veteran players tend to be on the hostile side when it comes to new players. Rather than "hi, how are you, this is how the game works, what kind of role are you interested in, o cool let me give you a rundown on how that works and what will work best for you"....we tend to have a "hey, what do you want to do, ok build this" group of folks. If a new player doesn't end up in a family of veterans, our veterans tend to farm the bejesus out of the small families that the new players tend to end up in. Preventing this farming is a key focus in some upcoming changes ![]()
While I fully agree that IC should be about collaboration within a family, Supernova gives new players a chance to learn the ropes a bit before getting thrown to the wolves.
Also, I feel it necessary to point out that I was one of the people that fought to remove the required 1 round of Supernova. When SN started, new players had to play their 1 round before they could join SB....now they have the option of joining either.
I would like to see another 1 month round
(This would actually make sense. Short SB round and regular SN round to get galaxies back where we want them to be time wise)
It wasn't our fault nor intended.
You mean we don't intentionally drag stuff out just to drive ICD crazy?
We'll have it up as soon as possible, hopefully we'll be able to do the reset pretty quickly, just depends on how smooth adding the new code goes.
This can't happen, as KT said galaxy ends will need to be synced up so that we can implement some changes at EOR without messing with an active galaxy.
That being said, what is it that's making this round fun? We've already discussed mixing these "anarchy" rounds into the mix at random intervals similar to the way we do hardcore galaxies. I for one have enjoyed the shortened round, the action started right away instead of having 3-4 weeks of blah.
Equality is extremely important for a successful modern society.

Due to the limited number of remaining player slots in Starburst, one new player slots was added to each family.
why o why... again
kick inactives, spots enough !
Because families weren't kicking their inactives....
Also, as a note. Illegal alliances are completely legal this round. So if Colorado decides to douche out on all the small families again, I expect a 7v1 against him.
It depends on whats going on with updates and what not. Usually its a few days, however I noticed that there are several new updates that have recently been included and I think that may be a factor.
Personally i would prefer quality over speed. Rushing only means mistakes happen
Indeed. After this round there will likely be a longer than normal reset period as well, as more changes are going to be implemented.
the strong will prey on the weak. Here's the thing, theres a finite amount of targets and planets to choose from and big families tend to agree to not fight or hold off at least until the end of the round
And we're in the midst of taking action to prevent this, as it ruins the game for the few newer players that show up.
If you see rules being broken, there's a nifty little button that says "report" at the bottom right of the post. If you have specific instances you're referring to, go through and report them.
If, Listos, by "play favorites" you mean "keep track of any past offenses and include those in any actions taken", yes we play favorites ![]()
Yup, silenz is dead. On the plus side there are a few similar tools built into the game now.
Why dont we get some developers to help out? Computer programmers in college that can use some practical experience (for free) may work? Or players that already have some knowledge of the game. All we need is stefan's support I suppose...
And experienced trustworthy developers that are willing to work without any sort of compensation ![]()
Longtime politics poop shovel-er, Zarf_Beeblebrix, has been elevated to full moderator status. Not sure what possessed him to agree to it, but he'll give us another active member in the PST timezone ![]()
Welcome to the team stinky.
That's a good point. Same goes for bold face type.
Einstein if you're serious about this have you thought about hiring an editor? It sounds interesting but does seem to need some cleanup.
Good idea. The audience you're targeting is important. If this is aimed at professionals, the paper needs to be professionally formatted. I had to type a few of these up at my old job when we were applying for grants, and the tweaking process took twice the time as the initial content.
I got to the part where you put lower in all caps, then stopped reading, as will any other professional this is submitted to. Caps-lock = bad
Mods pushed for this when the new layout (which is just...great) was being developed. Stefan has 0 interest in developing an app ![]()
I believe we're developing IC 12.5 currently.
1. You just violated an official forum warning.
2. You don't get to require the Mods to do anything.
3. You are not allowed to discuss Mod decisions publicly, if you wish to plead your case you can send me a personal forum message.
