Moderators could have an player alias.

As for normal players...

If Player X would hunt me down every round, I possibly would try to be ready for it (he could not hide either) and would also inform the family about this upcoming situation. I bet X would be in the receiving end sometimes and if he would hunt down several other ppl too, he would soon be busy defending himself from several fronts.

Maybe the bad boys of IC would eventually learn that their actions have consequences. Yeah, a bit naive, but could happen if majority of IC players are pro fair play and dedicated enough to teach a few lessons to bullies now and then.

If Player X would be so superior that he could hunt down anyone, any round, and ppl could not harm or win him, then he really should be allowed to do that.

Those who wonder how this would change the game... It changed my game and I wanted to share my experience. That was good enough motivation to write stuff here.

I can´t change the game, but I still made an suggestion into Idea forum. There is a 0,01% chance of implementing it, so I gave it a shot. Just read it and support it to make that chance even higher. It is the one about stopping anonymous playing.

I don´t think I can change players either, but I gave it a go too, because even slightest change to better would be a huge result for one single forum post.

I will try to make a change by playing also, but I still don´t have no idea if I am going to show good or bad example to make a point. Could also be, that I change my way of playing and morale code every round, according my status and what I can accomplish to make biggest impact.

Empires leader name = forum name and both are unchangeable.

This way ppl need to take responsibility of their actions in a long run.

Those who fear some unfair revenges for fair play, I can tell that I have used my name openly always and never hidden behind anonymity. I know there are others who are as open as I am. I have never heard about any unfair revenges.

Of course ppl have dished out some revenge to me once in a while, but both the instigating fight and the revenge fighting has been more fair than wars approximately are. Those are even more fun usually, because then ppl send greetings and messages whilst fighting.

Fair players have no need for hiding.

I don´t get it.

First we fight 805/807 and ppl accuse us on hitting small helpless families. IMHO those wars were quite even, because our fam is quite inactive, me included. Yes there was a big NW difference, but a lot of our NW was quite absent from the war effort.

Then top fam 800 decides to vulture in. They hide their greed behind valiant crusade against our evil family who attacks smaller families. Yeah, you are no better than us or even worse.

We had ongoing CF with 802 and AFAIK NAP was almost sealed, but they decided to call off CF (nothing wrong with that) and join other fams at vulturing and bashing us down (quite a lot wrong with that).

Although 805 and 807 have not attacked that hard anymore, I consider us having a war against 4 families atm.

Yet ppl find it funny and justified. Enough to bash us down in forums too. Like we did something horribly wrong and deserve to be humiliated in every way.

I can tell you that I am still trying to opp the enemy and rebuild some defensive fleet now and then, but as much as I like attacking and opping part of this game, this is not fun anymore. Not even to me.

This is the first time in my IC history when I truly feel that I am against the whole galaxy. Half of the galaxy is trying to kill me (yes, if you´re in a fam attacking me, you´re actively part of it, rogue action is a choice) and other half are bystanders and either silently watching or cheering.

This kinda experince and feeling leaves marks. Some other ppl would just leave the game and IC have undoubtedly lost a lot of players in similar circumstances. I will probably continue, but I really have no interest in co-operating with ppl who have made me feel like this.

Problem is that I most likely either don´t recognise or remember who truly was behind this experince (anonymous playing should be banned), so I will be even more suspicious than before. I will probably play only strictly SS and in solo galaxies from now on.

I still don´t know if in the future I will go rogue in families where ppl play unfairly or if I lack any compassion to IC community and just join in farming and vulturing operations. Time will tell, but I know I won´t be passive in those situations anymore.

Yeah, really shady. Now it is 07 vs 02...

Loads of players are playing this game with mobiles and mass building the old way can be quite tedious some times. Especially if network isn´t the best possible. Then you would really like to do things in one click. If you want new players or old staying, you better streamline the game.

Also, lots of ppl are complaining about players only infrawhoring. If infra management would be easier, it would level the playing field on that area and fighting would become the key factor making difference between players.

Yes, I want infra building to be as easy as it possibly can be. Then I can focus on attacking and opping...

It would be convenient to be able to use negative amounts up to -99.

With all logic -99% OB would mean 1% FB (fully built) and -50 would mean HB (half built).

This would help managing buildings more efficiently in early stages and also would make it easier to build new planets with ease, even if one would not have stuff enough to FB.

Now ppl who do not want to OB any planets, but want/need to mass build, need to check how much they can build on smaller planets and plan their mass building accordingly.

Once again, this whole mess made me more determined to play only SS...

I did not belong into inner circle of the Green family and didn´t (couldn´t) use IRC actively, so I had no idea what leader(s) were planning. I had no idea why leader wanted us to have Wardancer in the family nor I had no idea what should I build (apart from 250 CFs @SOR) to benefit the fam. We had fam bank, but most of the time it was not announced in fam forum who had it or at least the one who had it was offline a lot, so it was not handled efficiently.

I think the NAP was only an excuse for ppl to throw the towel in. We had no leadership. No plans. No communication (outside of IRC?).

For example, I had to read from Uni that leader was on strike and Crioz too. There was no announcement ingame that we had given up. Only clues were leader message asking "who the hell signed 72hr NAP" and fam name change, which I missed totally. I would have loved to give a fight even after the NAP. I even gave strategy tips how we could turn tables a bit.

Thanks for wasting my time.

I don´t want to play in an important role, because I always keep taking the responsibilities too seriously after a while. Especially when ppl are nice and supportive. Then I feel I owe them or to fam.

Then I suddenly realise I am seting up my alarm to wake me up in the middle of the night to send aid, so someone else can build what they need to build or to trigger fleets or whatever.

I don´t really have any middle ground with this. It is like on/off switch with me.

Thus I have chosen SS way of playing. Then I don´t have to expect ppl to rely on me that much, but I can help out when it suits me.

Yes, I have problems...

Well, since my comeback, I have played as I please and mostly SS. Have had fun! Leaders have accepted this without any trouble, because either I have been in a small fam or leader thinks I can pull my SS shizz off.

So, my advice is, if you want to do your own thing, do it in a small fam or do it well. No need to be in a #1 fam and win a round to have fun. If you end up in a #1 spot fam, it is not your fault with the current setup.

Also, if you don´t like themes, you can always be "diplomatic" with silly themes. Fam before reset had "Swords" theme which was kinda cool and Glamdring name worked well with my Pax race. Now my fam has "Batman" theme (instructions said, pick a character from Batman Movies) and I think it is quite trivial thing. But, instead of refusing to follow suit, I opened IMDB, checked out the cast and roles. Now I am "Sewer Thug #2" from Dark Knight Rises. Statement made, theme followed, had my fun with the theme. smile

@Swagga: Maybe my fam leader also realises from my actions that I am not here for him/her or the fam, but to have fun. So, obeying orders is not high in my list of priorities (but it is there). Yes, I am unrealiable. Leaders should however realise that I am not working against the fam as SS. I do not break CFs or unofficial NAPs or otherwise try to hurt the fam. I try to contribute my NW and planet amount to fam´s score too. I may stop fighting in a war if I think it is unjust or I may decide to continue my SS-no-aid-given-or-received policy even when fam makes war jumps, if I (can and) want to fight in a war too. I am funny that way. I think I have right to do things and make decisions on my own. Whenever I lead a fam, I let others have those rights too and I consider my "commands" as merely suggestions of how things could be done in the fam scale. I try to remember to say "please" and "thank you" often. smile

This was supposed to be short answer to current topic, but it kinda got out of hand...

Basicly, don´t take the game too seriously. Also, be a lion, not a lamb. big_smile

When I got the "game error" message, I had built infra. It seemed like nothing would have been spent for the infra, but when I logged out and in again, then the costs had been deducted. I got the error, because I could not afford to build more, but my cash and ress amounts just had not updated themselves accordingly.

Those who think they got free stuff, should first logout and login. Maybe the truth is out there.

I could only confirm the rankings, forum and race links not working - all fixed. The missing images and weird sliders (due to missing scripts) may be local issues.

Sliders, Missing images and Galaxy Map background missing might be Google Chrome problems. With Firefox and IE those work.

Clicking race links in IE make whole page look weird now. Menu takes over whole top of the page.

System Info in Chrome is still in one column without separate window and in IE in two column window, but planet images are so huge, that when opened from Galaxy Map the System Info window does not fit to screen always and the close link in bottom can´t be used (yes, it can be bypassed by scrolling page down and opening a new System Info which you can then close, but it is hard work).

When opened from Quick View (in IE), System Info is just messy and it is even hard to tell which ress bonus belongs to which planet.

Still minor tweaks to do here and there I guess, but the game should be playable. smile

Dunno which of these are important clues, so I will just post everything I notice. smile

Upper right menu does not work properly. Wiki link directs to maintenance page and forum link downloads something.

Could not get into forum that way. Came here from fam forum. Direct URL probably works too.

Some icons are missing: endo/octa/iron/food/cash/morale/NW, all menu icons from sidemenu. Resource icons seem to work in market though.
Only explo ship icon missing from units.
Also political advisors icon missing, but infrastructure advisor´s icon is ok.

Galaxy Map has no background. Systems and planet info opens without a box and in one column.

Same thing with systems and planets from Quick View. One column and centered to left.

No families in rankings.

"No such race" info when clicking any race links. Yes, even official races.

Covert options gave this for agent amount in a textbox: "90410 data-slider-value="
Magic gave only max amount of wizzies without any sliders. Just a textbox with value.

Sliders replaced with textboxes in various other places like infra and unit building pages.

Graphs lack red color in council page. Yes, this is probably #1 priority to fix! wink

No recent reports. Empty page there.

There´s some observations.

I am not trying to copy someone else´s strat. I remember Bara from the past, but not how he played. This is the way I like to play. I also have no objection for fighting. It is what I am here for. If you utterly destroy me, so be it. Anything I accomplish to do this round is just a bonus, considering how the round started for our family. Also, there will always be the next round. smile

If my style of play is a constant failure, I will accept that result, because this is the most fun style of playing. It would be boring to win every round with superior strat, if it would mean constant co-operation with fam, tight deadlines, strict following of master plans and whatnot. I like to just improvise and see what happens.

I know our fam has limitations and it is not by choice. We just didn´t get active randoms with banker race. Every banker candidate went inactive right after randoming to last spot fam. Only wardancer/camaar players were active and willing to stay. If even one banker would have stayed, he would eventually have been one fat banker. At some point we had even one team within the fam and one wardancer tried banking for that team! That was a bold attempt. tongue

Sometimes fighting same opponents for extended period of time can get dull, so I really could fight someone else. But if you don´t let me, at least I get to fight. So, bring it on! big_smile

Nobody has even asked me to stop attacks. Not during any wars, not now. That goes for both families. It seems everybody in #600 and #601 are either content with the current situation or do not care.

We had one NAP offer, but our fam had decided not to give any planets for it. Thus you had a chance to end the war too, if you would not have been so greedy.

I think our offer still stands, so if you want to end the war, start negotiations, get CF and this time, don´t break the CF. Oh and I don´t think you should try to mass attack first for extra planets and then try to negotiate either. smile

Totally new idea; ENFORCE THE RULES!

Mods should not need to have 100% proof of rule break. It is enough if the spirit of the rules has been broken and game has suffered from actions of players.

For example IAs can be made in Skype or in Messenger or wherever. Mods can´t monitor that. They can and should only check what has happened ingame. If it looks suspicious enough, they should at least warn ppl and keep a close look into their actions. Usually when it smell like it, tastes like it and feels like it, it is it. Use your moderation.

Good and easy example is bug abusing. When ppl abuse a bug, another player can and usually does inform them about the fact they are abusing a bug (I know I do) via ingame message and when the bug abuser continues to abuse the bug after that, mods should have every right to block the bug abuser.

So, next time Sentinel attacks any family member in a fam below 40% NW family limit protection, the victim can ingame message him, demand planets returned and if Sentinel decides to abuse a bug and keep planets, mods have right to block him.

If you see me abusing bugs, I am only making a point... I will stop when mods announce they will start taking action. smile

I am pro free speech and I can´t really understand why we can´t talk about possible IAs in public.

If ppl want to argue about things, let them. Sometimes it is even interestning and amusing.

Sometimes there are ppl who break the rules and mods can get information they need from these arguments.

Mods do not need to read all of these accusation threads and try to find proof from them. It is just extra materiel for them if they wish to use it. IRC would still be the official channel to report wrongdoings.

Yes, our fam is full of brutes and berserkers. We kicked all pansies out and stole their secrets of TOs and CFs. We also heard that specialization is key ingredient when making cash, so now our Camaars make CFs and our Wardancers make TOs.

That seems to be working rather well, because now we make enough cash to build lasers too. We mainly use them to create awesome light shows while we have our viking style festivities. Extra cash is used for our pleasure droids and occasional fighter overflights.

We are rather happy that those nerdy types were easily chased away, because they had sent their units away for some stupid reason called efficiency. They demanded free planets for themselves, tried to make us produce something called resources and wanted to have some things called organisation and co-operation. Silly folk.
