Care to point out which of us have chased you into your coloring book and why?

Do you guys realize the additional costs that would be incurred if plea bargains weren't around?  Every person who has indisputable evidence against them would still be tried, rather than just pleading guilty, bogging down the legal system meaninglessly.

Sure, those crimes are bad.  But a lack of pragmatic consideration of the situation is pretty bad too...

Nolio, you completely disregard the fact that China and India have both massively increased their demand for oil in recent years.  It's simple economics: demand for oil is enormous, and supply hasn't increased, which means the price will inevitably increase.  Your requests for the US to be "nice" to the Middle East have little to do with the oil market.

I could apply that to any group.  Liberals don't all agree with one another on the extent to which they believe it should be taken.  Conservatives disagree on particular issues, but agree on general concepts.

The problem in that argument isn't the global warming supporters, nor in christianity, as your analogy says.  Rather, the only flaw is in your need to group and generalize people, then claim flaws in those people because they don't fit your criterion for the group in which you've placed them.

The military may not like Obama, but in the United States, historical tradition has leaned toward generals acting merely as appendages for their superiors, rather than as autonomous agents.  Of all the people, the generals realize the importants of a secure chain of command.

If such a scenario were even close to realistic, it would have been done during the Bush administration, especially considering the number of generals that retired in protest of the Iraq war.  (Not meant as some anti-Bush scenario.  Just using it as an empirical denial of your claim)

I'm going to challenge this vote.  If nominating Decimus has the "best interests of America" at hand, the definitiion of a "good leader" is "instituting a mandatory suicide law, with punishment of the death penalty for those who don't comply."

But the office desk is such a nice desk!  Wouldn't you want to remove the desk first, before obliterating the room?  big_smile

Current vote:

Acolyte: 1
JA: 1
TheYell: 2
Zarf BeebleBrix: 1

Current votes by people who don't meet the qualifications
BW: 1

(BTW, maybe someone in the running shouldn't be counting the votes.  That's just asking for a Bush v. Gore) big_smile

"There are rules and institutions in the western world to prevent this, and they do work, but some compagnies seem to find a hole."

"How about some example companies, or some examples of what "holes" we're talking about?"

"holes were in? how about the national debt, where the lenders are sitting making unbelievable interest off their loans since we never reduce the principal. there's some fat cows feeding off the masses"

"Are you even in the right thread?  Read the entire thread to figure out the context of the word "hole.""

"zarf, perhaps not as related as first cousins, but i think it's relevant, considering its unhealthy and oligarchic nature. sure, they're not selling a market, but the national debt is 'cornered' in so far as it is stagnant, and the lenders are growing fat off tax dollars, and i wouldn't be surprised if the line the wallets of the powers that be to keep things that way."

Um... that still doesn't relate.  tongue

I copied and pasted the entire evolution of the conversation that led to your final statement, Elysian.  When I asked for an example of a "hole," I was asking about an example of a loophole that allowed monopolies to continue.

Forget about second cousins.  They don't even share the same genetic data of all lifeforms from the same planet!

1: You're wrong.  The mods said they were going to read through these, so your argument is stupid and baseless.

2: Okay, Joor.  Let's assume you're right.

Then you just tossed out a dozen other ideas, solely because you could.

3: At the very least, give people credit for their ideas.

Win my ass.  He just assumed ideas that the rest of us thought up, and put them on one list without giving anyone else an ounce of credit.
