>>"[...]nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law[...]"<<

Is nothing like "nor shall any State refuse to deprive any person of their property in order to distribute it to other people in order that they should have equal opportunities allowed by wealth as well as under the law."

You don't have the reading comprehension skills to discuss this issue with me. You claim that one statement is "similar" to a very different statement which, in fact, violates the first statement. Keep insulting me if you think it's effective; you're a complete retard. It's adorable.

hahahahhaha. What you said is in the Constitution isn't there. Whatever you think is "like" what's in there isn't like what's in there. Because you're an idiot and if half the words are the same you think it means the same thing.

Quote all the wikipedia you want. You were wrong and it's not debatable.

What does it have to do with anything? Heart disease is what, THE number one killer in the USA? Big surprise a guy has heart problems? We should talk about it like it has anything to do with politics?

You're overly presumptuous, Justinian I. I don't presume all of that. I just don't care. Having half of any real discussion here would cause migranes.

>>I didn't say we should return to anything, but more that to continue to focus only on yourself will lead to ruin... My prioity has always been that for humans to succeed we must balance the self with the all...<<

People have been claiming to act thus for millenia. You're far too uneducated to have this discussion with, yet arrogant enough to insult anyone with more education (and I daresay intelligence, because you're a cocky little stupid kid!) than you.

>>Have you heard the a phrase like 'equal opportunity to the pursuit of happiness' somewhere Kemp?  Have you read the constitution of the United States recently, Kemp?  Have you ever read it?<<

That phrase is not in it. It protects the right to the pursuit of happiness. You obviously haven't read it or annything else that would educate you on history.

>>If technology brings us to the point where enough food and water for all humans on the planet can be produced for free, it simply would be unethical and, I would even go so far as to say, UNCONSTITUTIONAL for the government not develop the technology, and CRIMINAL of the government to disallow or filibuster the development that technology.<<

It doesn't exist. I would contend that it most likely never will. But regardless of our disagreement there, if it existed I would not DEMAND that the GOVERNMENT provide for ALL MY NEEDS. I'd rely on the private market and DO IT MYSELF/with others. It would be done faster this way. It would be done cheaper this way. It would be done more efficient this way. It would be done better this way. Any necessary repairs/adjustments would be done more quickly this way. And someone would be accountable this way. No one would be STEALING (that is, by force, like you propose by FORCING people to give you their money so you can set up YOUR ideal system of distribution) my money this way and using it for their own gain. That's what politicians do now. That is what they have always done. You act like YOU are compassionate and want to care for everyone, but it's YOU proposing we give the corrupt MORE money and power to misuse and abuse and I who favors NOT stealing in order to empower the corrupt.

You only call it unconstitutional because you don't know what the constitution says. The constitution of the USA protects your right to do it yourself. It doesn't promise to give it to you or give you the right to TAKE other people's wealth because YOU know better how to spend it for them. In fact, it protects THEM from  YOU. Read the constitution. If you are an American, your ignorance of it is disgusting.

Our priorities are straight, dumbass. Freedom is something we value and cherish. That some stupid kid was pampered too much and thinks himself an intellectual and believes everyone requires his endless free time to ponder the vastness of the universe does not mean that billions of 'less fortunate' (yet more bestowered by their creator! the Greeks did think the intellect to be the highest gift from the gods!) souls do not live meaningful and satisfying lives.

Maintaining the freedom to live our own lives IS the HIGHEST priority of competent human beings. It is not one of YOUR priorities because you are incompetent.

>>And that has so worked out for us, can you not see that things would be better if people focused on other people rather than themselves?<<

People have more now than they've ever had in the history of humanity. Yet instead of learning from this and seeking to correct imperfections, you wish to RETURN to a corrupt CLAIM of utilitarian socialism because it will DO MORE for people. Buy a history book. Use your brain. You were given one by your creator, whoever that is. Your neglect of it has got to be a sin, whomever your god is.

What are you talking about hate, xeno? He's not hateful. He's just disgusted at your outrageously retarded posts. You're more ignorant than a 12 year old but you have the arrogance of a head of state. You really think you have a CLUE what you're talking about, yet you have MOST of your "facts" completely backward.

Your bullshit about people being as productive as in a capitalist society when only doing it for the hell of it was blown out of the water pages ago. Keep up with the mental masturbation.

Often the president is pretty much 'do nothing' anyway. I'd much prefer even an open "I won't do shit!" president over the socialist we just elected.

She should have been aborted because I don't like her political views.

Oh yeah, and now that I'm done with the sarcasm, you're a bunch of idiots.

I don't know about just in CA, but I had to do some grad research on a lot of marraige/divorce statistics a few months ago. Divorce costs are just a hundred billion or few for the USA. I'll let you know if I find the specifics.

>>Homosexuality isn't a disease though. Unless you're a psychiatrist you don't get to label it as a disease. It's just a difference from the majority, much like left-handedness.<<

That is your opinion and I respect your right to it. But it is or is not a disease regardless of my profession.

>>whereas 2 consenting adults of the opposite sex CAN marry, 2 consenting adults of the same sex can't. This is in fact a difference in rights for same sex couples.<<

No. Both have the right to marry a person of the opposite sex. There are inherent benefits to society in heterosexual marriage that are not present in homosexual unions. We've been over this.

>>Saying they can marry someone of the opposite sex is still disallowing them to marry the one they love. <<

Marriage is not an institution based in love. I love hot wings but I don't need a government institution involved. Marriage serves a big purpose in society. It's not JUST about love and the law is not concerned with the love part of it.

>>b) gay people cannot create offspring
-> so cant infertile people or old people. marriage isnt about offspring, its about devotion to each other.<<

AND it's about offspring and raising our young. Infertile people and old people cannot raise children as a result of coincidence, not form.

>>When I use "reality," it simply means "is feasible."<<

I was talking about reality, not the future. I dispute your claims that we'll be manipulating individual atoms in the next ten years or twice that time, but claiming something "is a reality" just because you personally think it'll exist in the next few decades is an assault on the English language and the rational use of that language. When you have to say things like "Define 'reality' within that statement" you're way too vague and crazy for me.

I didn't "make it relevant." They're not connected or related in any way.

Whether or not homosexuals are pressured into having heterosexual marriages and children or encouraged to be gay and have no children is not affected by the sexuality of sperm donors. The sexuality of sperm donors is not forseeably affected in any way by society's view of homosexuality as healthy or a mental disorder.

I said that homosexuality is a mental disorder. I said that homosexuals (having a mental disorder) are perhaps, as a population, more predisposed to having mental disorders than the rest of the population. Knowing this, and that they consentually engage in this behavior which does not produce offspring, I said that perhaps it's best we don't discourage them (even if it's a mental disorder), because accepting their behavior reduces the passing of their genes. They can donate sperm either way, whether they are accepted or discouraged. The point is that, if they are accepted, that's less procreating that this portion of the population more predisposed to mental disorders is doing.

I love having to explain the obvious in detail repeatedly.

I was against forcing subprime mortgages before they did damage, Schniepel. I don't like credit. I rarely spend anything on it, and I do just to maintain my perfect credit score with enough credit history to be able to make use. The American dream is that I can buy all the nice stuff I can afford and enjoy it and whining morons can go bankrupt and it's not my problem. At least, that used to be the Amerikan dream. Now we're going to socialize and lower ourselves to northern Europe's level.

I wouldn't have anywhere to put a 30", avogadro. I'd have to sit so far back from it lol.

One of you is right, and one of you is a nutcase! I bet you can figure it out on your own. Do you see HOW FAR OFF you are, uneducated slob? Your conclusions are the polar opposite of reality. You say things like "clearly..." when you couldn't possibly be more wrong.

>>Remember, the only issue at which we are at odds, really, is whether nanotechnology is real.<<

It doesn't exist. Until it does, I am right on that point. Period. End of discussion. You can propose that we will be manipulating individual atoms in the future or even near future. You'll be wrong, but at least you won't be as factually wrong as when you say nanotechnology is a reality.

Enough with the 9 year olds. I gots meetings! I'm doing my part in inflating prices!

>>I pwned by saying that surely there must be some billionaires out there (who certainly have their basic needs already taken care of) who do still go about trying to improve.  Therefore, it is clear that having basic needs taken care of does not entirely diminish a person's drive to improve.<<

They're able to accumulate more and more. They enjoy obtaining more and more power. They can always get more power, and since most people would love to be as powerful as possible, they continue to work for more no matter how much they have. Your no-money system doesn't give them much to accumulate. "Therefore, it is clear..." that you are uneducated.

>>Therefore, pwned.<<

I'm sorry if "crackhead" offended you. It's either that or you're the most arrogant ignorant fool I've ever encountered in life. You think you're infinitely more educated than you are. And you're eager to show it.

Way to spam the thread with all kinds of things which were neither responses to you or directed toward you, Zarf BeebleBrix. You say clever things like "no argument behind it" when the statements are simple and irrefutable. Good job.

>>There we go, now we're back to the present, where you ignored my post and just said "you're a crackhead."<<

I repeat, for a third time: We're only a decade away from manipulating individual atoms?

>> I'm responding to the arguments that clashes with me.  I've done my homework, and you've sat around and called people crackheads.<<

And repeatedly asked a simple question. And we both know the answer is "No. I was lying." big_smile

>>Okay, so I loosely justified your post as an "argument," when it is actually a waste of a reader's life.  Okay.<<

I was just giving you a hard time because you have absolutely nothing to entertain or engage in here. Don't blame me for wasting your life and spamming the forum.

>>If what you're doing with me right now is the type of debate you see as legitimate, please become extinct.<<

I think you're a rambling fool and my lack of desire to have any sort of meaningful exchange with you is coupled with my comfort in that you're not going to post anything of any value that I might overlook in not really caring what you post. smile

>>For future reference: When you decide not to respond to an argument, in the context of a political debate, that is the equivalent of agreeing with someone, since their claim is left with no opposition.  May want to rethink that.<<

(I know it was directed toward fantasy-land dude, but I think your advice is good for you too.) Don't worry. I already know I'm right. You can cry all you want that you read 2 books about nanotechnology (which does not exist.) so clearly those authors were right and not making money by selling books. I don't blame them. They're not making any money marketing nanotechnology. Damn I'm a funny guy!

Get an education or a sense of humor; at least one. Yeah I give people a hard time. TONS of posts on here are stupid, ignorant BS. Taking the time to point out outright false statements/lies/buuuuuulls***, etc. doesn't really appeal to me. Make a stupid post, watch me quote it or parts of it until it gets too disgustingly stupid, point out why they're stupid, and call you names. You can respond to the content (there's always specific content. I'm very specific.) and SHOW THAT I'M WRONG (and call me names if you want. I don't make the retarded posts that warrant it [not usually. I haven't been drinking [[god damn I'm funny!]. I definitely can't compete with fantasy land taken as reality.] like a man, or cry repeatedly that I was mean to you while ignoring content over and over and over again. After it's repeated 2 or 3 times I really don't care to repeat it any more in the hopes that some sort of dialogue might actually take place. That's the definition of insanity right there. I might be a little crazy but I can hold a conversation. That's more than I can say for a lot of the residents here.

Way to skip the content, dumbass.

"We're only a decade away from manipulating individual atoms?" was really hard to find. It was only the first sentence of the post.

Stop smoking crack before you question my intelligence. Try responding to the content before crying that I'm being mean. I'll make fun of you plenty more if you're not going to touch the content. Without a content-driven discussion, what else am I going to do? Make fun of you, that's what.

By the way, "you're a crackhead" is a statement, not an argument. It's just a fact. How could I argue with someone who doesn't respond to content, only cries about mockery of them because they don't respond to content? I couldn't.

This is definitely the place for me. I've been posting here since beta round 2. I may well be the last of my kind!
