Xeno wants robots to own the means of production.
LOL Otto
>>there are no facts about how crimes would be in the US without guns.<<
You are right. It would be unreasonable to suggest that the same thing would happen in the US that happens everywhere else.\
>>The "facts" back schniepel, USA has third world murder rates.<<
The "facts" do not show any evidence of guns being the cause. There are nations with more guns and lower murder rates than the US, suggesting the reasons are cultural.
>>The difference between US murder rates and Civilised countries murder rates, is US gun murders.<<
Obviously in a country with a higher availability of guns murders committed with them will be higher in a country with less availability, but considering the lack of an impact on murders and the increase in crime suffered by nations enacting gun control, you don't have a point.
You kids couldn't pass a basic statistics course, but you're experts who're gonna post and vote anyway! Hurray willful ignorance!
Read what? Your ramblings "clearly if I say this is how it is, it is!"
You post how you feel about the safety of issues as if your ignorance counts for something. The facts don't care how you feel.
Frenzy: I have a serious question. Is that a penis llama your bananna is riding in your avatar? Because it's not a normal llama and I'm a little scared that a part of my damaged memory tells me I may have seen that phalic thing somewhere online many years ago.
So stealing a country and oppressing a people in order to keep it is justified, as long as you make a fashionable anti-republican reference?
FYI, I'm not a Republican. But I have to question your post, because it's either question it to see if you have any real point or call you names for not having one. ![]()
>>No, it is you who fail to understand it. <<
Good explanation.
>>You assume that the idea of there being a social consciousness is some sort of communist conspiracy <<
I didn't use the word communist nor parallel your position to communist-like positions nor imply any sort of conspiracy or mal-intent. Good job not replying to my point AT ALL but engaging in virtual masturbation because you like to type instead.
>> who, by your account, are all brainwashed leftists.<<
I explained the problem with their values. Did you engage the topic? No. Random references not touching the point.
>>When you consider a male security guard at, let's say, a museum, wandering through the halls on his nightly rounds, or a female factory worker on the assembly-line of a sweatshop factory, you automatically assume those individuals are functioning at their full level of potential, for otherwise they would have already have done more with their lives, right?<<
I never claimed that or implied anything of the sort. But thank you for making up a random straw-man which I'm sure you will proceed to attack as if it has anything to do with what I said. I would be more specific in what's wrong with what you said, but since it was a response to nothing that anyone said I'm not going to waste anyone's time attacking it.
>>That is, if they were capable of doing more, they would have already arranged done so. I, however, see a waste of human potential, with people being manipulated into roles above and beyond which everyone is more capable, because of this state of retardation of our social consciousness.<<
The free market with social welfare and education subsidies manipulates people into roles beyond which they are capable? That's funny, because it's systems like those which you advocate with massive oversight and control over people's lives that historically rape freedom, oppress people not in power, and manipulate people into living lives beneath which that which they are capable.
>>Where you believe everyone gets his or her lot in life<<
Onec AGAIN (is this ALL you do?) you make up things to respond to which I never said. Life isn't fair. It's better to be good than lucky. I'm not championing this as something awesome about the random world we live in. But I DO believe that people ought not to get in other people's ways pursuing their happiness. I believe that you are morally disgusting to get in people's way. You advocate systems which make people's lots in life worse. You advocate systems which make difficult and very often prevent people from improving their lots in life.
>>However, we both know (or at least I do) that neither of us will win this argument, because it will be future historians who will judge this.<<
They already have. One system has resulted in the most prosperity humanity has ever known. The other has resulted in corrupt governments repressing people for generations, people who die fleeing their oppressive governments nearly as often as their oppressive governments condemn them for voicing views which they hope will improve their peoples' impoverished lives.
>>Nevertheless, why don't we continue this argument, first by admitting our global society is 'retarded'.<<
What argument? You respond to NONE of the points, reasoning, or historical references I make. Ever. I'm torn between whether you ignore ALL of the substance of my posts because you know you have no response to it or whether you're just that dense that my simple and clear posts are beyond your comprehension.

>> I mean we went from covered wagons to moon landings in less than 100 years for Christ sake<<
No. Our people did that. Xeno's people are still largely in the same state they were when our people were travelling west in covered wagons and committing terrible crimes against the natives of this land. And this fact is ammunition for Xeno's dictator leaders to fill him with envy. They find it advantageous to keep Xeno and his countryment ignorant and jealous of other nations' success. This takes away attention from their own failures in governmening (and they do a lot more than govern) and focusses it on hating outsiders who have better systems and enjoy unimaginably higher standards of living. To Xeno, it's people living well's fault that his people shit in holes and can't figure out how not to get HIV.
You're ignorant. Where do you live? I want to give a donation to your community's schools. You kids aren't learning math and it's hurting the world economy. As well as making me feel bad for you. I'd rather pay to educate your kids than listen to more of this ignorant, self-righteous garbage. It's one thing to be on opposite sides of philosophical differences, and quite another to be ignorant and cocky spewing a bunch of garbage rhetoric 10 year olds would be embarassed to hear.
You're so corageous to call someone a moron for joining his military, Random Hero. God forbid people give the ultimate service risking the ultimate sacrifice for their family, friends, and countrymen. I'm sure you've never enjoyed the fruits that better people than you fought and died for. You're offensive to mankind.
When insulting someone's intelligence, it is helpful to use the right words. YOU'RE a bright one. YOUR intellect is admirable.
That's precisely the definition of retardation which I was working with.
"Social consciousness" is a postmodern term which you fail to comprehend. Don't group my education, awareness, and enlightenment with "the social consciousness." I am not as close to a cave man as others. We're not one organism, we're a species. And an intelligent one--we're not all the same. All of our ideas are not magically equal. All of our ideas are not equally valuable.
We are collective to a point. Human beings are social animals. But that doesn't mean that I or anyone in my country is going to sacrifice because someone in power says it'll help you guys in bum-fuck China. And it doesn't mean that anyone in your country is willing to, has ever been willing to, nor will ever be willing to sacrifice because someone in power tells them it'll help me. You have nothing to offer me. And that's okay; you don't owe me anything. What causes problems is controls imposed over people's lives. This means overhead -- a higher cost of living and lower standard of living for everyone involved. This means corruption -- more wasted resources, real "economic injustice," and a lower standard of living for all.
I have this strange notion of how you live well in this world and grow intellectually: You work (you provide a service to your fellow man) for which you are paid (because of your service to man, you get things in return like a home, food, clothing, and fast cars!). I know that this is natural and common sense, but I just can't deny it.
Another problem is fools being preached to and brainwashed into thinking that they're entitled to everything and deserve everything from this world. It's a two-way street. The system doesn't work and nobody has much of anything if people aren't rewarded for their service. The fact is that resources don't grow on trees--and the ones that do require that those trees be planted, maintained, harvested, shipped, and distributed. This stuff doesn't happen on its own. Robots don't do it. As much as it's great that they do a lot of it and we have cheaper goods resulting in a higher standard of living for all, they're never going to do everything. There are people involved performing the labor that feeds and clothes and houses and entertains you. If you do not reward them for their labor, they'll stop taking care of you.
The monetary system has tremendous benefits over anything and everything you've proposed as an alternative. In one form or another, it's not going anywhere. Get over it.
We need more freedom and less meddling. I hope that you have the chance to see what humanity is capable of given freedom and motivation in your lifetime.
I agree with Lizon. We should congratulate thugs who steal nations while their people die fleeing, choosing to die with their freedom than live in opression.
This country would be in much better shape if one could.

thank you for your service
once sat on a post
Yeah I've passed a few of those having smoked recently. ![]()
When potheads represent a threat to your safety, property, and rights, you've got some serious issues that aren't the potheads' problem.
>>If you wouldn't extend your argument to heroine and cocaine then you must be in agreement that a line must be drawn somewhere where one tihng should be allowed and another shouldn't. In that case, you must justify why you tihnk cannabis should be on the "good" side<<
Justify it? Substances like that kill people. They're horribly addictive and do serious damage to the body. Justify why cannabis ISN'T harmful and addictive like they are? Well, it's not.
>> My argument that alcohol and tobacco are so ingrained in society that they would be too difficult to ban does not extend to cannabis because cannabis use is a fraction of alcohol and tobacco use.<<
Yes, a small fraction of tens of millions. The number who's tried it being even higher.
>>And, as I pointed out in that post, there have been moves in the past few years to make it harder to smoke tobacco probably with a view to an outright ban within the next 30 years as society is weened off it. With that been the case, why would making a comparison with tobacco help the argument that cannabis should be made legal?<<
The mere fact that there are pansy adults looking for government to regulate their lives is evidence that they are right when they seek to do so? That's a brilliant argument.
>>As for the claim that other people smoking cannabis has no effect on me. Ignoring any other effects such as passive smoking of it it absolutely stinks something disgusting.<<
Yeah I bet you have awful problems with second hand pot smoke. People just lighting up in public in confined spaces all the time. It's so hard to avoid inhaling someone else's pot smoke in public. I can't get people to stop blowing it in my face.
Your argument is that you need someone to take care of you.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAA @ Random Hero's link. Hahahaha that's hillarious.
Most have "true issues"? What is the source of this statistic among the tens of millions who smoke/have smoked dope?
>>When the majority of those doing a drug will end up because of the drug interfering with my rights, it goes beyond a personal right, it goes to become a personal wrong to use those drugs. The end result will be interfering with others rights, therefore it is not, and should never be, allowed. <<
You failed to tell me how my friends and I smoking a little while we catch up a few times a year infringe upon your rights. The fact is, 99.9%+ of people who smoke pot don't bother anyone. Ever. You're pretending that because unhealthy/stupid people do unhealthy/stupid things when high on pot, just as they do while sober, that pot is to blame and clearly it must be banned from 100% of people because <.01% do stupid shit while high.
The end result of people smoking dope is NOT interfering with your rights. YOU are interfering with their rights to make whatever you can up to infringe upon their rights.
Don't worry about it Justinian you wouldn't last 10 minutes in the military.
lol. they're too embarassing to respond to.
Obama is using the recession as an excuse to pass his party's agenda. Unless you are retarded enough to buy into the idea that massive credit spending is the solution to spending too much on credit, you've got no argument in favor of his "stimulus."
This isn't about Bush's (and a democratic Congress's) failures. Anyone who keeps making reference to Bush being responsible for everything any time anyone offers criticism of any of Obama's actions is a child and I don't care to have an embarassing enchange with you. Bush is responsible for what he's responsible for. That doesn't change our evaluation of Obama's actions. We're not as simple minded as you. We don't look at Obama and say "he do this, economy improve, Obama good!" Market performance is important (though effects on the market are often delayed, and so we're not just looking at this), but there's this thing called "history" and this field of study called "economics" that we can look to for important information as well. History and economics tell us that massive spending on credit cannot be solved by more credit spending. History and economics tell us that tax increases do not help the economy. Hell, common sense should tell you that one. History and economics tell us that tax inreases ONLY EVER hurt the economy.
We're discussing Obama's actions. Cry about Bush somewhere else. That Obama inherited a problem does not mean that he's not creating more.
Get an education. No one with a clue is even trying to make the argument that massive government deficit spending and higher taxes is going to help our economy.
Obama is waging war on the prosperity of the American people. We're going to go from global leader to... well, sit back and watch.
