"what causes our desires for acting for the greater good? Impulse? Pre-natural desire implanted into us via some supernatural cause? Does this imply we are all good to start? What exactly is "good"? Does the good require us to act in such a manner that we are forced into deciding each action?"

The need to ensure the continued survival of our offspring, even when we are too ill, old, or dead to do so ourselves, means that we all strive to create an "all good" world for our young ones, a world where they can survive without threats in relative comfort and plenty.
Problems tend to arise for us as a species when we think beyond the basics, when we get selfish:

"I want..." because you don't have children, or do have children but somehow hate them
or "I want my children..." to have red ferrari's on their 14th birthdays because I wanted one when I was 14 rather than a lesson on how to be a decent human being.
No I don't care if that will turn my children into disgusting human beings and ruin the future; they've done nothing but look cute, ask "daddeeeeeeeee..." and churn out blow jobs to all of the popular boys who also just so happen to have rich dads.

there isnt a single reason... the quote you gave was simply pointing out that the difference between an atheists and  christians is not "intelligence, IQ, education, or ability to think for yourself" <

Bullshit! Here is the original quote:

> Lord Soccer wrote:
> do people really need a religion to tell u what to believe, can u not think for urself?
i find it hard to believe that God created everything, he is just part of a religion that was made up, like many other religions out there that were made up, many have their own gods, maybe they created everything, i think not.

many of the greatest minds in history were religious people; while you may not beleive in a god, dont delude yourself into believing that the reason you dont beleive in a god is a result of your intelligence, IQ, education, or ability to think for yourself...

"Some of the other theories include that homo-sapien actually bred with neanderthals."

There is evidence that supports this theory, the neander-children, however this evidence also proves that the end of the Neanderthal was not due to inter-breeding with the Humans thanks to the incredibly high rate of birth and congenital defects.

The purpose of this thread was for one person to answer the question in the original post, and that person has repeatedly avoided answering this simple question by:

1> Pretending the original question (which is also the thread title) was too difficult to understand.

2> Pretending that the quote was a misquote.

3> Searching for tiny points of contention.

4> Starting multiple, apparently random, arguments by picking on small grammatical errors, then pretending the small errors have changed the meaning of the entire question.

5> Starting multiple, apparently random, arguments by picking on small differences in definition, then pretending the small differences in definition have changed the meaning of the entire question.

6> Answering questions, challenges and posts using strategies and tactics, rather than truth, facts and personal opinion, in a manner that is designed to keep the discussion going rather than to resolve anything.

And now that person is accusing me of such things, such circular arguing, seemingly because I won't forget that the only purpose of this thread is for him to finish his statement, for him to tell us why we don't believe in God:

I remember when The Berzerker were touring to promote Dissimulate in 2000-2001-ish. Not only did they remember that there was a whole country outside of London, but they even decided to pay its major cities a visit.
