"fyi, gladiator, you're applying a protestant philsophical premise, 'sola scriptura' to Islam, Christianity and Judaism. that's illogical. so are you're conclusions."

"sola scriptura" can be applied on Islam too..

Also, you can hardly blame the Quran for not giving an "age of consent" rule, it wasn't meant as a lawbook. Granted, the Sharia comes close, but that too was meant as a basic guideline for governors..

BW, in the end you come to a compromise. That's what everyone does. And sure, you can set terms, but most of the employers do too. And if you walked out on most of your clients, you go bankrupt and that's that. In the end, you're dependent of your clients too.

An 8th century invention would suffice: chainmail. I'm sure they can fabricate a more comfortable textile that would block the rays too tongue

Or, as someone formulated on IRC:

What about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saint Days then?

Where does your idea of "being a teacher is the 2nd choice in everyone's life" come from, BW?

As far as I know, being made a professor is an honour and all people that teach in regular schools chose for it as far as I know (maybe america doesn't have a specialised teacher's educational program (it's a 3 years course over here)..

It's not a test, it's propaganda Flint. There's a distinction...

"and yet no one seems to read today. Education of liberals seems to be pretty low if they cant read this"

Yet, according to BW, the same people are your very professors at american universities....

Islam in general frowns upon things like this. Muhammad might have had brides that young, I'm not sure about that, but that doesn't mean Islam allows it. There are the "laws" of the Righteous Kaliphs as well (and the later kaliphs, although they're not considered flawless and thus their laws can be disputed)...

If you dig in our own christian past, you'll find horrible things like that too..

"I am sure you can find passages in the bible to support marrying young.. .they did all through the middle ages after all... and consumated as soon as the girl had her first period..."

Err, no.. Not at all.. YOu might find such things in the bible, but it's not in the slightless "medieval". It was written in the "byzantian" area (however that empire will only really exists 300 years later) and before the middle ages start. So it's the late roman time, and not in the area where the term "medieval" is intended for.
But to come to my point: In medieval times (apart from the early medieval times [476 - 9th century] where we can't be certain) marriages were rather late. People wed usually around there 25th birthday, woth men and women. This tendency only ended in the 19th century when the industrial revolution really started to kick in..

I got this from "Vrijen en trouwen : van de Middeleeuwen tot heden : seks, liefde en huwelijk in historisch perspectief" by Chris Vandenbroeke (I'm not sure if it's translated into other languages though)
