Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

16. Unions should be demolished.

why?

Re: [ My political position and views ]

Because they are counter-productive and really just get in the way.

The peoples rights should be protected, not ruled with an iron fist. Unions
are all well in good on some days but they can overdo it a lot of the time.

Re: [ My political position and views ]

Also Unions are also there to ensure a "fair wage".

If two people, Alice and Bob, are both working the same job and
are both getting paid the same is that fair? Yes.

If Bob was a slob and didn't as much work, had half the work ethic,
and couldn't be arsed to do the same amount of work is that fair? NO.

Take for example teachers. They kick and scream when they want more
money but oh no, just mention performance based pay and they are all
"WTF?!? H4X" on your arse.

Re: [ My political position and views ]

Teachers are a good example.
I work in a private University and measuring the "performance" of teachers is one of my jobs.
I tell u.. its as good as impossible to judge a teacher by performance.

U for sure can do evaluations on teachers.. but they never are honest.. if a teacher is "hard" he will most likely not be evaluated pretty good.. even if he is a good teacher. personal liking or disliking also plays a huge role..

2nd thing u can do is go there and listen to the lessons. its not representative though and also lots of work.

How else could u measure the performance of a teacher?

For really productive input i would be thankfull:P

Re: [ My political position and views ]

How do you measure a teacher? With a ruler of course, although i think juding pay by penis size would be unfair to the smaller teachers and women. I sure wouldn't want my pay to be judged that way, would be torture knowing everyone had bigger cheques then me X(.

Re: [ My political position and views ]

so much for the productive input.. tongue

skoe? how would you measure the performance of a teacher?

Re: [ My political position and views ]

Difficult to say.

But it would be based upon the attitudes of the parents, other staff,
and - mostly - based upon an annual review.

The review would sample how much work they are putting into their
classes.

Re: [ My political position and views ]

Also you could use midgets that are secret agents in school
child disguise. They could report on how well a teacher does...

Would never work skoe, midgets fingers are much to stumpy to pass off  as a childs.

Well.. some teachers can get better results with less work. Other teachers work shitloads but simply suck.
I think its kinda impossible to pay a teacher after his performance...
What maybe would work better would be bonus for teachers with super good evaluations..
but then again.. evaluations are shit.. make an easy exam.. be a cool guy.. you get good rates...

be a hard teacher.. no matter how competent u are.. and your rates wont be so good.

about the spies... very secret lol.. teachers for sure would not recognize when people attend their class who normally do not.

Re: [ My political position and views ]

> be a hard teacher.. no matter how competent u are..

Scores mean nothing.

But in an evaluation/review the review can ask the teacher
"Okay, this student sucks -- what have you done about it?"

Virtually everything I have I bought so if the economy is poor the standard of living goes down so really protecting the economy and the people are the same thing. No government has been stable and successful for thousands of years either so I don't see what advantage there is in putting emphasis on protecting the people which I take to mean making social programs versus growing the economy and the taxes used to pay for this protection come from the economy. The fastest way to ruin an economy is to give the government control of industry.

It's not the government that makes these social programs possible they don't just pull them out of their ass we pay for them. I don't see why I should pay my neighbors medical bills they aren't my problem and if I want to help it should be my choice and not forced on me. Especially since I don't smoke and I'm not obese but I would be paying for people who don't take care of themselves. Tax collection requires a police force so it's really the threat of and certainty that they will use force that makes me pay.

>4. The government should ensure adequate coverage of emergency

The first priority of a government is to protect it citizens. But not from themselves or their own dumb decisions.

>5. GST should be absolished. Its absurd, and counter-productive.

I'm all for getting rid of taxes.

>6. The prison system should be changed such that the goal is to rehabilitate

Criminals are a waste of time we will get nothing out of investing in them. We have rehabilitation programs already and they fail miserably. Some people are just worthless.

Agreed.

I don't care.

I think this will be the new strategy of the left to get gun control around the second amendment by just making it so difficult to own a gun that the second amendment is only a technicality. Gun control has been a priority of every totalitarian government.

>11. Warning labels should be taken off everything. If i should for some reason

I have no problem with warning labels people are entitled to know what they are getting but I don't agree with lawyers and their idiot clients cashing in because some moron spilled hot coffee on his lap or thought the cruise control steers the car which is why we have a lot of these warning labels.

You should be allowed to chase him down the street and bludgeon him to death with a 10 inch dildo.

>13. The Australian court system is a joke. It should be restructured or simply removed.

I don't care.

>14. Australia has no real reason to leave the commonwealth...

I don't care.

>15. Torture is a no-no -- unless a child is in *immediate* danger.

I have no sympathy for terrorists. If we need timely information to protect our troops or whoever then whatever it takes. I mean if your wife or husband or brothers or sisters were in danger would you not torture someone to get what you needed to know? Would it end the war sooner if we had better intel on the insurgents in Iraq? Sure it would and it would save lives at the expense of these worthless scumbags.

>16. Unions should be demolished.

Labor laws are adequate enough today that unions are not necessary and struggle to justify themselves.

>17. Marriage should become legally irrelevant, and instead Unions should exist.

Gays should be able to marry but I don't really care if these laws change.

>18. Nuclear power planets are OK. So is coal, although research should be

As much as I hate to say this the French made a good choice by going nuclear. Cheap reliable power is absolutely essential to a modern economy.

>19. Israel should be wiped off the map, so to speak.

You would return Israel to the Palestinians? All they would do is kill the jews and then get back to raping goats or whatever it is they do.

We should put some pressure on them for this but our president is -1 spine.
