When we say civil war we mean in the broader American sense. Maybe you would call it invasion by noncitizen Muslim extremists. The ones burning 6000 cars a month in France and wrecking synagogues all through Europe.

in the USA for instance you have rising anger between immigrants and citizens, general distrust/ignorance/apathy towards the institutions of government, and a sharp ideological divide on just about every issue about as bad as during the Vietnam era.

If there's anything that history shows is that the US changes and adapts as is needed to ensure stability. Considering that we've only had 1 civil war over the past 200+ years proves that much. Compared to almost any other country on the planet and we're quite boring in terms of government instability.

No actually they killed some army officers before that in small raids. They had the gonzo idea that when they left the United States they had a right to everything in US federal govt warehouses and military bases.  (and some "americans" still do think so and bitch about it, especially when I say they oughta be shot 15 times and left to die in a peach orchard) But FT Sumter was the first official act of aggression by an organized rebel state govt not just burglary and murder.
