Re: collapse of Mexico possible

"I don't understand why there is sooo much opposition to the development of missile shield technology.  if we could perfect a weapon system that could neutralize nuclear weapons in flight then wouldnt that make the proliferation advocates happy?  it would esentially eliminate the possibility of a nuclear holocaust.  all it would take would be weapons research."

the thing is that until now a nuclear holocaust was almost impossible because the consequences of a nuclear first strike are known to everyone.
russia wont nuke the US because they know it would end in their destruction also.. vise versa. nuclear balance..
now the missile shield takes this away and gives the US as only country in the world the option of a nuclear strike (if its perfected).
U as american will probablly support this.. biut for most other people in the world it is not the optimal sollution.
specially for every other nuclear power which the missile shield is castrating.

Re: collapse of Mexico possible

Can't even believe nobody is talking about nuclear radiation or nuclear subs. What a retarded debate. Next to that no missile shield will stop all Chinese or Russian nukes. Stop dreaming. And one missile into the strat would cause enough damage already.

Such a missile shield will only stop a few nukes at best.

Re: collapse of Mexico possible

Its not the nukes of WW3 that bothers me, its the Sticks and Stones of WW4. Just how sharp do you think the sticks will be?

Re: collapse of Mexico possible

other rich countries can produce there own version of the missile shield.  However, the United States wants to cover its own allies with their shield.  so what is the problem.... as long as you're friends with the United States.

Re: collapse of Mexico possible

can you think of any country that you would rather be subject to?  cuz either way your going to have to choose one of the big guys to protect you.  Most of europe has chosen the US... of course you can choose russia... but they wouldn't be nearly as nice.

it's simple truth who better to be subject to than the United States.  I've heard that from my German Political Science professor many times.

Re: collapse of Mexico possible

ya he was one of my favorite professors.  his lectures where a bit dry but i enjoyed his perspective.  I think that is why i like the politics forum on IC because of the wide variety of national perspectives here.

Wow, that is crazy that we went to the same school.  it was crazy enough that we live in the same state lol

Re: collapse of Mexico possible

"I don't understand why there is sooo much opposition to the development of missile shield technology."

It implies a level of agression that most people are uncomfortable with.  The only reason to develope a missle shield against nukes in the current envrionment (understanding of mutual destruction) is if you intend to launch a nuclear strike.  It's like wearing a bullet proof vest in a room of people with guns, sure it's seems a reasonable precaution but it will give people the impression you intend to start shooting.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Yeah it is, haha. We grew up in the same area and didn't know it. rofl
