Re: Favorite movie

dude, fight club isnt gloomy, its a comedy. the 2nd scene in the movie is about a guy who has "bitch tits" and the first scene was about a guy that had a gun shoved down his mouth and was concerned with how clean the gun was.  COMEDY

Re: Favorite movie

Fight Club is about a man being so depressed with who he is in a life he regards as meaningless, that he develops a new personality, and tries destroying the known social structures as they are, to cause new world order.

I fail to see where its comedy. Now the fact that you got enough self-destructive thoughts to find it amusing he thinks about how clean a gun is when its showed into the mans throat, I find disturbing. 'now the "bitch-tits" part of it, you remember how "Bob" got his ? Just another reference to how the MC dislikes humanity and what people do in the modern society. Nothing fun about it.

Yes, I see the sarcasm...but I also see the reasoning behind it...

Re: Favorite movie

its called a dark comedy; have you ever seen dr strangelove? its a famous COMEDY and the plot is this general goes crazy and causes a nuclear war where all of humanity is wiped out, pretty dark, right? but guess what; its indisputably a comedy!

also, if you have the dvd of fightclub, theres comentary with the actors and the director and the author of the book, and they refer to the movie as a comedy.

Fight club was funneh

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: Favorite movie

to liven up debate in this thread: why do you prefer the dark knight over batman begins or why do you prefer batman begins over the dark knight.

i personally prefer batman begins. i think it is a much deeper movie, it has bruce struggling to cope with his parents death throughout the movie; with many foils and with all the battles being with himself more then the actual villians. conversely; in the dark knight i dont see any internal struggle within characters, bruce, rachael, the joker, and Harvey. they all have their own set of ideals that they arrogantly adhere to, and the struggle is purely external and petty. Eventually Dent has a change of heart, but they didnt do a decent job showing his internal struggle when it happened or even developed a decent enough relationship between him and rachael to warrant his extreme change.

Re: Favorite movie

I like Batman Begins better also. It did a great job explaining about his past, where and why he learned to fight, and stuck to closely to the stories i've read about his beginnings.

The Dark Knight's fight scenes weren't as well shot (there are a couple of times when you can see batman waiting to hit guys hes fighting because they aren't ready yet.) they did try to do internal struggles with batman, just not that well. His main struggle was going to the level he needed to in order to catch the joker.

Re: Favorite movie

i watched it again. and im going to have to disagree with you. they show one real struggle batman has with himself and its whether or not to turn himself in when the Joker demands it. which was a really stupid part of the movie. Some crazy guy threatens to kill people if the best law enforcment doesnt go to jail, pretty shallow for everyone especially batman himself to think he should turn himself in.

as for doing what it takes to capture Joker. he never breaks his one rule and doesnt show him struggling to keep that rule.

Also, the charecter, Rachael completely changed between the two movies, not just the actress playing her. her attitude was completely different. could of been two completely different characters.
