Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

"I'm confused.  Who's runnin' fer president, Sarah Palin or John McSame?"
EXACTLY. This is great stuff for democrats and great stuff for the debates.

"McCain is not the same as Bush.
Man Bush swept McCain under the bus in 2000.
McCain was totally against Bush on many issues."

yes, and he then flip-floped on almost all of them, to run as a republican, and he voted with bush 95% of the time, so well you decide if things are guna be different...

"If Obama wins, I am going to live in exile in another country until a conservative president again takes the helm"
another reason to vote obama wink

and golk, i haven't see the interview, but i'm sure you're right, there is only person on the campaign trail who has never talked about issues, and that's palin, mccain has talked about them before, but he's not talking about them right now, and this is great stuff for democrats and even better stuff for the debates --- McCain can't say anymore, Obama's just relying on his speeches, he says that, Obama just gotta say "and mccain you're relying on your false attacks and politics of fear" that will resinate with voters

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Did O'Reilly just have th' heats fer Obama?  lol

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Just some outside information: recent polls show that if US elections were t' be held in Europe, Barack Obama would win with 68% o' th' votes agaisnt McCain's 26%.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Obama will get 110% o' Illinois

Genesis, 'tis not just europe, th' WHOLE world loves obama
i think it were bein' th' German president that endorsed obama or somethin' like that among other presidents an' politicians o' th' world
like obama doesn't even have t' work on earnin' america's name again, america will get its name back just by electin' Obama

in canada actually, scallywags be fer obama by a 4 - 1 ratio--- an' thar's about 100 billboards an' ads in canada, from supporters o' obama in canada tongue

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Did anyone else think Obama came o' really well in th' interviews?  Walk the plank! I'd like t' see more stuff from that scurvey dog about actual policies, th' popularity contest thin' with lipstick an' all that bullshit is gettin' auld.  Almost as auld as McCain wink

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Kind o' annoyed about th' whole o' Europe supposedly not helpin' in Afghanistan, while thar's Dutch soldiers who be fightin' th' Taliban, with a chest full of booty.  Somethin' I agree with Obama th' whole o' Europe should do.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Please, Glad, open a new thread for this kind of stupid partisan publicity sad

Everybody knows we can find a number of clips to laugh at each campaign... Come on.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

well you post republican ones, and then we'll party with both clips big_smile

also a couple of them were added just for jokes, however i'm dead serious about the first one in the McCain section and the first one in the Obama section

oh and for the record, those two were the only ones i had posted before, but i got carried away with "related videos" hehe big_smile

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

If you want to talk about ads, at least let's talk about the last two from today, released by each campaign:

Today's Obama ad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-ae409tJEI

I'd say it's risky, since attacking McCain as an old incompetent can backfire easily. The "funny" eighties style is only funny for people with higher education, who probably know their vote already.
Plus, the "McCain hasn't changed" could be used on the other side, saying he doesn't flip-flop, etc rethorical rep talk. Still, the link "out of touch" works, if this will be part of a larger plan to show them as retrogrades. If this is not hammered, I don't think this ad very successful but rather damaging.

Today's McCain ad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b0pSXmT10I

Unreal. The rep strategists keep the hollywood like "Chariots of Fire" music style of the precedent Wolves ad. With a female off voice telling the viewer how disrespectful (with a snarl) Obama's attitude towards Palin is. It's ridiculous, but still, they are trying to make it look as if Obama was focusing on Palin (which is simply not true but effective), playing the sexist card (still untrue), and appealling to small-brain people who would fall into such demagogy. Obviously, doing it too much or too long could backfire with people who DO have a brain.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Golk today's obama's ad was merely trying to be humourous, like McCain was in the past, and that works
i don't agree that only smart people will find it funny big_smile
it's sorta cheesy and funny big_smile

and you're right, McCain is a lying, cheating, stealing sack of [sugar] tongue: LOL,  a little harsh
but i LOVED it when last night the host of the forum asked about, Palin's attack against community organizing, and McCain was forced to go back and say well obama's done great, he's given service, volunteering is great ---something he has never said before
offcourse i would've loved it EVEN BETTER if the host had asked this:
"McCain, do you honestly believe that with the lipstick comment, your opponent Sen. Barack Obama was calling your running mate Sarah Palin a pig?"
his answer for that would've been PRICELESS big_smile

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Beware americans! If McCain dies in office, you're warring Russia! tongue

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

@Genesis

Apart for the obvious lack of ground of that funny comment, I am at a loss to understand why Obama follows the stupid idea that "Russia invaded Georgia oh my bad ruskies", and does not reveal that Secretary Rice was in there july 10th, and that such a bold move by a full-backed country would NEVER happen without the consent of the US. Ever. Perhaps she did not say "no", but oviously she said yes or said nothing, because provoking Russia would create tensions (not even thinking of such a military reaction) that would help her mission number 1 now, which is to get another republican term.

Either Obama does not have the guts, or americans are not ready to face how geopolitics work. In both cases, this is pretty sad.

"Watch Palin say war may be necessary"

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Genesis, I'm not saying she did not say it, please... It's all over the news. She said "Perhaps so, that's what NATO is about." Well obviously, no? What would be the point of having a military alliance if you let your allied get invaded? It's a non-story by leftist media, and exactly the thing that could hurt Obama, the kind of european attitude "yeah yeah we'll help you" and then nothing...
When McCain will back that, looking like "If I give my word I keep it", though nuancing again that it's quite a stretch from today's situation.

If Georgia had been member of the NATO, which is not the case, there would not have been Russian peacekeepers inside the country, and you bet Russia would have threatened but not attacked a nato member. It's a story about a "perhaps" said in answer to an far-stretched scenario. If anything, she sould have said "YOU BET!" instead of perhaps...

I mean: "If McCain dies in office, you're warring Russia" was your statement, which is stupid as the smiley meant it I guess tongue

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Gen, if McCain dies in office

warring russia would truly in ALL HONESTY be the least of my worries

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

It is as stupid as the notion that America would go to war with Russia.

A non-story made by leftist media over a non-statement made by a right-wing airhead.

Sounds good to me.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

You got it and worded it way better than me big_smile

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Well, I expect Sarah Palin's interview to get its own thread, but from the bits I could see...

Playing for her:
Right-wing media will love the stupid reactions about "War with Russia" (when she answers quite logically a scenario) and "Bush doctrine" (where he tries to make her look stupid), and the McCain campaign just won the right to hide her a bit more due to the host agressivity/bias and can do a couple nice ads with those two distorsions.

Playing against her:
Frankly, she looked pretty weak to me. Palin's great in the crowd, as a fighter giving a speech, as an icon, but this is not working. Might want to wait the full interview, and remember that the guy is clearly trying to embarass her, not even talking of clearly "less than glamorous" shots, but she does not look as a potential president at all. She has a lot of work to do.

The good news for the republican campaign is that McCain handled "The View" hysterical bunch of girls quite well, specially while being attacked more violently than ever big_smile

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

"and does not reveal that Secretary Rice was in there july 10th, and that such a bold move by a full-backed country would NEVER happen without the consent of the US. Ever."

It happens often enough to be usual

UK and France and Israel into Egypt in 1956
Israel into Egypt and Jordan 1967
Turkey into Cyprus 1972
Indonesia into Papua New Guinea 1974
South Africa into Angola 1978
Iraq into Iran 1980
Argentina into the UK 1982
Israel into Lebanon 1982
Iraq into Kuwait 1990
Israel into Lebanon 2006
Georgia into Georgia 2008

I'm sure I'm missing some, there's a soccer war in Latin America at some point.

I thought McCain agreeing to do the View was a big strike against him.  The President of the United States has better things to do than sit on a couch while Baba Wawa reminisces about getting laid.  Or even coming into the show 5 mins after they do that.  I can name thousands of American gatherings too stupid for a President to even consider being caught thinking of visiting.  The View is one of the top ten.

ANd I know about Baba Wawa because my dad likes to channel surf so shush

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Well if you believe for one second that the link with Georgia is comparable to Turkey, Argentina or any nation up here except Israel (which is quite an exception)... all right, to you it would change nothing if Obama set the tings straight from his point of vue. Or the fact that the White Hous did not immediately intervene.

At least, don't say this one "embarass" all of you. It's sugar candy for the republicans, obviously.
