I think I get it: Russia didn't invade and conquer parts of Georgia, peace-loving free peoples within Ossetia threw off the Georgian yoke with fraternal assistance of Russian army, which remains behind as peacekeepers and graciously accepted the independent offer of Ossetia to join Russia.

I knew that was BS before I learnt my alphabet. It's not a new trick.
