More inactives.

Don't blame the game's setup.
Everyone get the same setup.

Blame ur leader smile

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

I say shorten the round by 2 weeks (top fams are just infrawhoring waiting for EOR war)... speed up the beating 43 will receive... then next round ... make map a little larger, with ten fams of five.

Never rule out the possibility that you are a complete idiot

I say implement portal havoc smile

I want more players per fam so that it's more likely there will be at least 2 ppl per fam who check cores/do basic stuff so that it's not the end of the world to go one day in a six week round without paying super close attention. I don't think fewer fams would be a huge negative really

But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

Thinking of adding that +1 spot per fam now.  There seems to be at least a few people waiting to get in, + could add some mid-round spice to the galaxy.

More fams = more wars.  But good point an inactive in the mix would be even more burdensome

these fams will be massive by the time everyone has finished joining

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

haha make it happen smile

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

issue atm is gal to small.. everyone fought earlier.. nobody left to fight.. this is boring tbh.. u need a bigger gal.. half expo half warring.. everyone just fought at BOR and now its the just eco with the small amount of planets..

Confront them with annihilation, and they will then survive; plunge them into a deadly situation, and they will then live. When people fall into danger, they are then able to strive for victory.

Good summary of things that has been said before

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

A bigger galaxy is only a surface level solution.

We have 50+ people in a galaxy who are in super close proximity to eachother but somehow war is impractical.  That's the real issue.

Some things are in the works to mix this up.  Details coming soon.

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

Well with the amount of players... more size, systems and planets are needed.... after a few attacks you already put somebody in Pmode... retake battles are short and easy because there aren't very many planets to begin with... New players who join the galaxy for the last month of the round do not have any empty planets to explore...

My family NW = the entire rest of the galaxys NW minus the #2 fam.... so even if we didn't fight everyone early for space, we can't really even attack anyone now.

Don't get me wrong though, I really liked the close set up at BOR... it was cut throat and exciting... it is just going on too long now...

Never rule out the possibility that you are a complete idiot

The size in itself is not a problem. It's the combination of galaxy size, amount of players, and round length (we've been over this before).

Right now, the galaxy size+number of players is not in balance with the length of the round. The number of players and galaxy size made it so that fighting started very early. This would be fine for a short round.

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

I agree with you guys, but I still think we can think more creatively in terms of how to solve this.  We don't have to accept that this would only work for a short round.  We can find ways to extend the action.

Limited space and resources should be driving conflict.  The solution isn't to give people more planets and systems or to adjust round length; it's to figure out why players can't reasonably fight over what they already have.

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

At some point one family just becomes too powerfull to fight with.

This power comes from
High econ / savings
High fleet
Fully port / sick laser count
Big safe core / large travel to hit econ

You want to keep conflict going you have to take some of these element out of the equation.

Suggestions
Change win comnditions: Koth style
Limit total portals
Make ds a fam port (expo enemy core early, sent ds, expo gets taken, when ds arrives you have a spread port for rest of ro

Re: Milky Way: Round 55

I dunno seems like a tall task... how do you keep big fams from dominating the galaxy?

Once a fam starts running away with the round what can you do really?

Have a group of AI aliens come out and attack the runaway fam to keep them in range of the smaller fams?

Once a fam starts running away with it... split the fam up?  Split em in half to make two new fams... maybe a civil war event?   When the galaxy fills the top fam splits in two, and have to fight eachother with their new recruits for space in the galaxy?

I am very high smile
