Re: Is Milky Way the new Pinwheel?
all he said was "talk about lack of free speech" i wouldn't call that an "over-reaction", in fact that was probably the most diplomatic way he could address what he thought (with good reason) that his posts were deleted.
A more non confrontational (and productive) way to address his concern would have been to ask "what happened to my posts"? Instead he jumped to conclusions and assumed we are censoring him, which is ridiculous.
Besides, within the thread he mentioned I posted explaining that I had moved various posts into other threads. If he had actually read that, he wouldn't have needed to jump to that conclusion in the first place.
So yes, that is an over-reaction.
Cloud, I fear you are doing the same but I won't make any assumptions. What did your post say? I haven't deleted anything and afaik there haven't been any problem posts reported about this thread. Nobody is censoring you guys unless you are swearing, and even then we block out words like [this] instead of deleting the post.
I think since Pie doesnt love us old vets that it is time for us to leave and make way for the new.
This way IC can have nothing but new n00bs that dont know how to play and thus you have what the NFL ended up having after they changed rules to equal the playing field which is plain old mediocre teams instead of the great dynasty days of old.
You're missing the point. What "great dynasty days of old" do we currently have? 100+ active players instead of 1000s? The point I'm making is that I was brought on to the dev team to help address the game's problems. One of the biggest problems I see is that this game absolutely sucks for new players. Do you disagree? Do you think it's a good experience for a new player to come into a game and be killed off if he doesn't want to play a specific race? Things need to change, and if we have to upset the formula that allows players to get ahead by following a step by step guide at EOR (to name one of many examples) then so be it.
What are you so afraid of, having to actually figure out how to win instead of doing the same thing every round?
New just to call it NEW doesnt mean BETTER.
The old saying if it aint broker dont fix it is still true. The problem is they tried to fix it about 4 yrs ago and it just messed it up worse.
I agree. And I intend to undo that damage. However, that will likely involve drastic changes to unearth underlying imbalances within the game. It will also likely involve changing the current formula required to win, for reasons mentioned above.
the whats wrong is its text based and slow, I have said for years now make the ticks occur every 15 minutes instead of an hour.
That increases the activity 4 times.
That is just 1 simple way to make the game to where you want to stick around but one hr sucks waiting when you can play games that keep your attention every minute you play
That's not what is wrong with the game. That might actually make things worse because now instead of having to log on once an hour you now have to log on once every 15 minutes to compete. That might be pretty cool (admittedly it sounds cool) as a HC galaxy but as the main galaxy if we did that we would filter out even more players than we have already.
There is nothing inherently bad about a text based game or one that updates on the hour. The problem is within the details of its design. What it takes to be successful, the burden inactives have on your team, the necessity of specialization, formulaic "follow these steps" gameplay instead of more fluid gameplay. Those kinds of details are what we need to address, not the fact that it takes an hour to update.
A 15 tick galaxy would still have many of the same problems. We need to fix the mechanics of the game itself, not the tick speed of the main galaxy.
