Re: Why does Xeno like to drink alcohol?

Orwell said all writing is political because the statement "My writing avoids politics" is a political statement

but then again Orwell was a Red

i made 2 political points, the impossibility of obscenity in a textual description of pornographic acts and the notion this thread was an experiment in puerile debate about nothing to which we run like hogs to split apples

This is getting closer, however, another hint is that the reason has something to do with politics, hence why it was posted in politics before wornstrum moved it here.  (When the answer comes out, I wonder if the thread will be moved back to politics).

Re: Why does Xeno like to drink alcohol?

"Why not just delete spam? On top of that, it's been posted by a troll. You could remove the trolls too."

I'm deleting 3 pages of crap instead of moving it to a place where people can dribble about whatever they want...

"(When the answer comes out, I wonder if the thread will be moved back to politics)."

I think at this point, anything political might be considered off topic since the topic and conversation is about your drinking. Maybe next time make a point instead of playing silly games and it won't get moved! Xeno make your point or this thread will actually be closed (if you post again with no answer, I will consider this thread a complete troll and it will be closed!)

Nope.  Okay, since nobody wants free beer, I will provide the answer:

The most intelligent and most ethical individuals perceive the following first: due to the systemically unjust structure of civilization, the pursuit and fulfillment of individual economic opportunity inevitably comes at the expense of economic opportunity of others. Now, because it is the most intelligent and most ethical individuals who realise this first, they are thus the first to refrain from pursuing their own economic opportunities.  This, however, only results in the less ethical, less intelligent individuals fulfilling their economic opportunities and gaining political power, which in turn leads to yet more systemic injustice. Ultimately, there is a process by which levels of systemic injustice increase exponentially as more and more intelligent and ethical individuals become aware of what is happening and thus likewise refrain from pursuing their economic opportunity.  There results a civilization where political power is increasingly held by unethical intelligent individuals who maintain power by ensuring that the process by which one is to fulfill their economic opportunity is through unethical intelligent activity, thereby allowing for a system by which only those intelligent people who are willing to act unethically to fulfill their economic opportunities ever come into political power.  As I have said, as this becomes more and more apparent, more ethical intelligent people then cease to participate in their pursuit of economic opportunities and never gain the political power necessary to reverse the trend.

And, as I am one such intelligent and ethical person who refrains from pursuing economic opportunities the fulfillment of which I know must inevitably come at the expense of others, there is no economic opportunity I wish to fulfill, and thus no purpose for me to use my intelligence to do so.  I thus drink alcohol.

Re: Why does Xeno like to drink alcohol?

The funny thing is, the unethical intelligent people tend to be less intelligent than the ethical intelligent people, and the only way the unethical intelligent people can utilize people more intelligent than them is by finding a way to trick them.  This, of course, is difficult.  The traditional way of doing so in the past was by the propagation of notions of the legitimacy of hierarchical systems, whereby levels of secrecy or 'security clearance' prevented the ethical intelligent people from being aware of the agendas that the unethical intelligent people in command had in mind, case in point the Manhattan Project.  The ethical intelligentsia have been burned by such systems, and, for the most part, don't participate in them anymore, which I would think is very worrying to the unethical intelligentsia establishment.

What I wonder is whether they are smart enough to know how less intelligent they really are.

"The most intelligent and most ethical individuals perceive the following first: due to the systemically unjust structure of civilization, the pursuit and fulfillment of individual economic opportunity inevitably comes at the expense of economic opportunity of others."

Bogus except in the highly rhetorical sense that the electric energy we burnt in this thread COULD HAVE gone to African nuseries in a hypothetical nonexistent system of power distribution, so, presuming what does not exist is morally superior to what does exist, and confers real guilt on people who can't bring it about, you killed babies by typing that.

"Now, because it is the most intelligent and most ethical individuals who realise this first, they are thus the first to refrain from pursuing their own economic opportunities.  This, however, only results in the less ethical, less intelligent individuals fulfilling their economic opportunities and gaining political power, which in turn leads to yet more systemic injustice. Looking back, the University itself is a development that has always undermined and corrupted the societies that raise it.  Case in point - if you hadn't gone to university, you couldn't use all those syllables.  You'd have to come right out and say it: "Real Men Don't Work".  This blue-collar expression of contempt for those who do work would be instantly understandable and society would impose sanctions on you, instead of offering respect for proposing indescipherable ethical pablums - because university encourages everyone to seek the limits of their own understanding, in the vain belief that people who go farther that others in acquiring understanding are really better people; so, to be confused presumably means one has encountered a superior being.  In fact, silly assedness is just as confusing as quantum physics.

Okay, let me rephrase:

Civilization is designed so that only moderately intelligent, unethical people come to power.  The more intelligent ethical people are marginalized.  Thus civilization is always shitty.

Totally agree.

"if you hadn't gone to university, you couldn't use all those syllables."

Not any more.  You can get a better education via google, wikipedia, other internet material and online discussion forums than at any university program in the world.  I guesstimate maybe another century remains of the academic establishment / university institutions.

Re: Why does Xeno like to drink alcohol?

'Intelligent' people must be really stupid. They know by taking a step back, the less ethical take over, and society becomes crappier, yet they still take the step back. They willfully allow society to crap itself instead of trying to create a more equal society. 'Intelligent' people must be really stupid.
