Re: The Riddler's House of Riddles

Wurnstrum- the lift moves but the man does not..

The lift goes up and down. - the man stays stationary relative to the lift..

Re: The Riddler's House of Riddles

I know what you mean, but your answer is wrong...The man is still moving relative to the ground...

Otherwise you could say that a man in a car is not moving, only the car is moving, but the man is still moving relative to the earth...don't try and debate this, your answer was incorrect tongue

Re: The Riddler's House of Riddles

Ok, so I have had an argument over this riddle in MIRC, so I am going to hopefully clarify some points over relativity.

A man inside a moving lift, then involves the lift as part of the object which is clearly moving. Object A inside Object B then relativity of Object B is included.

As for prices, a price is not relative to the object it refers to. A price is a value assigned to an object, so the object becomes irrelevant. So the answer of a price then becomes relative as an individual object, at which point the price does MOVE (it goes up and down). This is because a price has no physical object, so a price is relative to itself or other prices (so it does move). Something like a stock market, goes back to the man in the lift, you are either referring to the physical item with a value both become relative to their perspective, so a Stock Market still moves because stocks move (buying and selling is the movement of stocks between people also).

Stop trying to make this relative and complicated, the answer is a lot more simple.

Re: The Riddler's House of Riddles

Zarf's answer should be right!

What is the most important thing to you? Will you give me teh hapiness of taking that away from you?

Re: The Riddler's House of Riddles

It is NOT right...he is drawing a link between a physical object and a value but still one of those is MOVING. The value of the object is changing, moving, and just because you draw a link between the physical item, it doesn't change the fact that the value is still moving.

Zarf is NOT correct! X(

And no, it is not the sun. But that is not a bad answer smile
