Mmmh, well, I guess, we'll see.
I'd judge research a very valuable variable dependent on time (the longer the game lasts the better), dependent on overbuilding (the higher the more important reasearch) and on specialization (the more you can concentrate on one role like attacking, banking, opping or resourcing the better).
All three dependencies I can't see in SD:
* short game
* with so many planets available, overbuilding will most likely only occure on the first planets and it shouldn't be economical to raise it to much more than 100%
* no market means you can't specialize in cash or resourcing, no family means you can't specialize in a role
As I said, I am curious and amazed that in such circumstances more players than ever judged the Quantam the strongest race design when never before research in relative comparison to the setup was as weak as in this SD-round.
Arrgh, I shouldn't had deleted my spot otherwise I could show you what I mean *evil grin
Perhaps we can get back to this strat discussion after the round.
Another old bloodstained Harkonnen.
