Bankers may even need more than twice the amount of food, but it would be as simple as a food producer using forward planning (which is already done now in regards to supply and demand as well as the activity of a food supplier)...
Say a food producers logs on once a day, he will have accumulated 48 ticks worth of food (up from 24 ticks of food). Now you will have lost more due to decay, ((food supply * 0.995^48)=78% vs ((food supply * 0.995^24)=88% but this is still only a total loss of about 10%.
But lets also look at the increase of population also (still do not think it will be a 90% increase to meet the double food production). First thing that would need to be considered is that the population would still be similiar to the current situation (you wouldn't necessarily have increased number of planets, etc), but the rate of growth would increase (and becomes alot harder to work out because it depends on max population, research, number of planets)...
pop growth rate = pop * (1.075^24)
pop growth rate = pop * (1.075^48)
The difference in growth will always be 567%, but as I said before it depends on population reaching the max on each planet, number of planets, also doesn't factor in research...but also if a pop banker is going to need more food, he will have a greater population so this will mean more cash available to build farms...
Not sure if this was actually helpful or not...
