it doesnt matter what the kid was like, just because someone isnt nice to a cop, doesnt give the cop the right to abuse the powers the society gives him.

I'd heard a couple of times when I had a summerjob in children daycare, great stuff when parents actually try and live up to the promises their kids made.

This forum is stupid.

It doesn't matter what the kid was like? So if she had started throwing punches the cops should just stand there and get hit? If she had pulled a knife, it doesn't matter because she is 12 so she should be able to stab them? What the kid was like matters completely.

Re: NYPD pwnt

avogadro, if it's not what you meant then say what you meant. You quite clearly say "it doesn't matter what the kid was like..." Were you there? Was anyone that has commented on the police in this thread present when it happened? I don't think people should go cop bashing based on the media whose favourite pass time is making the cops out to be thugs. If you have more of the facts, please share them and show us that it wasn't necessary in the situation, if you don't then you shouldn't be making comments blaming the cops. Simple.

Re: NYPD pwnt

gwyn, its called context you dumb shit. you dont read individual posts without reading the surrounding material and taking into context the surrounding posts. and you honestly think that if the Girl comitted a felony, it wouldnt of been reported? you think it would of been a buig scandal for a 12 year getting arrested if she was swiping at people with a knife? [moo]no. it was a scandal because she didnt break any law, you dumb piece of shit. and if you dont break any law, and the police arrest you, it doesnt matter if you werent polite to the police like mr. blonde and chris were suggesting she probably was, because its not against the law not to be polite to police.

Re: NYPD pwnt

sure she broke a law, she wrote on a desk. that's why she wound up in court.  if you break the law, and you're an ass to cops, I hope they break your arms stopping you from punching yourself.

No need to badmouth the police guys. Those guys risk their lives most days on not the best salary in the world wink Though in some countries they are allowed to carry guns which must be fun big_smile

Lets just say they were wrong in this case and maybe the cops in question should lose their job. Re: NYPD pwnt

"Excessive force", and "traumatising" are words not usually used by 12 year olds.  So i'd say, either her parents are lawyers, or her lawyer told her exactly what words to use for maximum effect.

Still if you told the teacher to "F off", and the teacher told you to leave the classroom, would the teacher be held accountable for "grabbing" the student and throwing them out into the hall?  A parent will sue the SCHOOL for "such behavior", while the offending student continues to go to school telling his/her teachers to "F off".

I'm a firm believer for allowing corporal punishment to be reinstituted into schools.  Clearly student behavior is getting out of hand.  And it could be that the teacher had repeatedly TOLD the student(s) to stop writing on the desks.  In which case the teacher was provoked by the student.

I will agree...the whole calling the cops and being dragged out in handcuffs...was way over the line.  Then again...it was a BBK story in which they love their jouranlistic sensationalistic stories to be very juicy and racy.

=^o.o^= When I'm cute I can be cute.  And when I'm mean, I can be very very mean.  I'm a cat.  Expect me to be fickle.

Why? She committed a crime, and she's 12.  I mean, when she got released, did she go to a bar and relax for a few hours, then catch a movie and a topless show? Or did she go where she was told and get locked in for the night--y'know, home?  If -I- got locked up it'd be outrageous, I might want to stay out all night on the roads built with my taxes.

she wrote on a desk with something that can effortlessly be erased. no damage was done to the desk.... that is not vandelism and is not a crime...

Re: NYPD pwnt

avogadro, I have read the whole thread. TWICE you have blamed the cops, do you know any more of the story then anybody else then? The media is always particular in what they release, and the girl WAS found guilty in court therefore she has committed and offence, whether or not YOU deem it to be of a minor nature. Let's look at graffiti with spray paint - yes it can be cleaned off with solvent but it is still a crime. Nice to see your so good at presenting your point of view you can only resort to insults.

As for the police in this matter, I neither condemn nor support their actions, I have insufficient information from that article to draw a conclusion. They mention nothing of what the girl was like upon arrival. I mentioned knives to show that the course of your reasoning was flawed, not to suggest that she had a knife. If she was, for example, kicking out and spitting at officers then handcuffing her may have been necessary for her own safety.

The crux of the issue is that you are making judgement without having all of the facts. It's like me saying you are a paedophile because I saw you near some kids. The evidence doesn't support that or any assertion other than the fact that you were there. IF you have more facts about the conduct of either the child or the police, please share it. Otherwise I will continue to argue that your opinions are ill formed.

Re: NYPD pwnt

what did i blame the cops for? i only blamed the cops for arresting her. which is reasonable because they were the people that arrested her... no one else did it... they have control over their actions and they did it.

no where in the link do i see she was found guilty, you see that anywhere? also, your reasoning that if someone is found guilty of a crime, they committed an offense, is idiotic.

with graffiti, the solvent costs money, the solvent could damage the surface of the structure. with enough money, it could probably be restored to normal. with a washable marker, a simple wipe of the hand would remove it...no money or measurable effort required...

my reasoning isnt flawed because my statement was obviously assuming a lack of any crime. people were arguing that the girl was probably acting like a bitch to the cops so she deserved being arrested. i was saying that acting like a bitch isnt a crime and is not a reason to arrest someone.

you have two crutches in this argument. 1 is you totally misinterpretted what i posted. but refuse to admit it.
2. you argue that without all the facts you cant make any judgments. but no one ever has all the facts with anything, yet making judgements is a necessity in life. so you are demanding an impossible standard that just further makes you look like an idiot.

Re: NYPD pwnt

You accused the cops of "abuse the powers the society gives him". What part of what I have said is a misinterpretation of that? If you didn't mean to say it that way and your meaning has been confused, then please, explain clearly what you meant, correct my error.

In the article itself "Miss Gonzalez was suspended from school and tried in a family court, where she was given eight hours of community service and ordered to write an essay about lessons to be learned from the incident."

Now Mr Blonde stated that maybe she made threats towards the police. He appears to be suggesting that if she said that she would get her dad to beat the cop up then it would be a justified arrest. If you are arguing against that particular point then maybe your argument is correct in that regard.

I am not demanding an impossible standard in order for you to form your opinions. I am suggesting you need more than just the media's version. I stand by my argument that you saying the cops are clearly at fault based on the fact that the media says so is like me calling you a paedophile based on the fact that you were near kids. The media does not portray all sides of a story, otherwise it wouldn't catch people's interest so much. I am a police officer, I deal with facts that are "beyond all reasonable doubt" before I presume to form an opinion of innocence or guilt. If you can show me how the media article proves beyond all reasonable doubt that the cops did the wrong thing, then go ahead. If you have their versions or an independant version that can prove that the cops are at fault, then go ahead.

My original argument against the post I quoted may appear to be out of context, however if you are going to make sweeping statements expect them to be taken as they are written. And again, you resort to name calling, showing your intelligence there avogadro.

Re: NYPD pwnt

i did not accuse the cops of abusing the powers the society gives them. i said IF they arrested her because she was a whiny bitch, they would be.

the article does excert does not say she was found guilty. she probably didnt try to defend, because defending it would of been more punishing then the punishment... 8 hours community service and a essay...

i did nothing but state the obvious... i said the cops were at fault for arresting the child. nothing more, nothing less, and you cant dispute that.   i did not state that the cops did the wrong thing.

i have never resorted to name calling, and you claiming i have, just further shows your stupidity.

Re: NYPD pwnt

who knows what that means.  It does no harm to a child to go to jail for her crimes.  NYPD should countersue and tell her mommy and daddy will lose their home
