dogged policework!
anyhow I didn't go to your FB looking for answers to a trivia question, but I'm not blind
THat is a picture of a real nose
that was cheeky of him, what if the German monarch was a Bourbon or a Romanov or a Coburg? Would they want to celebrate a Hohenzollern Kaiser?
didnt the Kaiser flee to Holland when the Germans rejected him? ![]()
The American 2-party system is about to implode, on the Democrat side I'm aware from the outside that idealists are sick and damn tired of trying to accomodate the splinter blocs such as unions that actually care about the results of policy and the established blocs are getting fed up being taken for granted by newbies.
On the Republican side there is actually a plutocrat core that wants a globalist corporatist state which embraces the welfare state and cheap foriegn labor. They literally want to combine demographic trends certifying Republican majorities with a commitment to prefer Republican incumbents no matter what. They complain of the "waste" involved in primary elections and openly hope for their elimination, in favor of choosing the candidates through control of funding in secrecy. The inevitable result of an undying Old Guard seems not to bother them.
They have no concern for reform or idealism except that it is harnessed and contained within their conspiracy and such zombies as Trent Lott are quoted as saying "We gotta contain this Tea Party". Against these again are people who actually give a damn what policies are enacted.
In both cases the authoritarians have abandoned traditional (and tested) campaign methods such as canvassing neighborhoods door to door and personal interaction, in favor of mass media. They are so far gone as to ridicule the emotional desire of Americans to trust their leadership, insisting that voters appreciate a good lie timely told. Their manner is clerical; the party apparat is the vicarate of the New Revelation and all that is required of the masses is obedience and discipline, not debate.
The fruit of this is 10% approval of institutions and a 45% voter turnout.
Israel has democracy, it was founded mostly by European refugees who looked back at the parliamentary tradition, it has transplanted european style parliamentary democracy
this means the position "Israel should not be bombed back into the Stone Age" gets about 25% of the vote with 10% willing to be bombed to the Steam Age and another 40% willing to join that bloc in a coalition against the Communists until something better comes along
Arab recognition of Israel's right to exist in some form would roil Israel and the hardliners would sink
in 1979 Anwar Sadat said, I paraphrase, "Screw this annihilation of Israel bullshit, we want NAP with Israel to concentrate on infra. There. We won't attack. Unilateral NAP. You gonna screw that up Jews?" Since then Egypt has had the benefits of peace.
The rest of the Arab world imagines that it can force Israel to BUY recognition and keeps trying to sell it. Actually if they copied Sadat and just gave up eliminating Israel they'd reduce a lot of tensions in Israel and US and the US would be more supportive of horsetrading. But they fail to see the corollary of "we won't agree to not destroy you with invasion" is, "genocidal wars of aggression are on the table"
and that's withotu the interference of the Iranian secret service and its terrorist cadres promoting Shiite militias anywhere that will raise them.
however bad a conventional Israeli strike on Iran with terrorist Iranian retaliation would be, the WORST thing would be a nuclear exchange between Iran and Israel
the world community has its head up its ass about the Palestinian question and has done for 40 years. Israel could make total concessions to Palestine and it would not stop the violence. This was revealed 10 years ago when the PA was created, in theory to solve the problems caused by the 1967 taking of Syrian, Jordanian and Egyptian territory after their invasion of Israel -- and when the PA and Israel seemed capable of a general settlement, Jordan and Syria declared they'd have separate and additional demands of Israel in compensation for their claims. They do not accept the "Western" formulation that the creation of the PA addresses those claims.
Rather than face up to this the "West" blames Israel and then blames the US for not putting pressure on Israel. Well you got what you wanted in Obama and your failed program is bearing its failed fruit. A negotiated settlement remains impossible and open warfare is imminent.
The majority of Arabs have been borne since the last open wars against Israel and don't figure they will lose the next ones. US should announce we only got involved as a favor and won't bother with a "peace process" any more.
knows all there is to know about the crying game
malt liquor and tonic water is a good combo
i love how hundreds of thousands of people make millions of transactions over a few hours, and within minutes, some asshat on a network tells me why they dumped Google. It's because of jitters. Somehow the movement of billions is never "the cold-blooded denouement of two years of intrigue". No, they're jittery about Congress.
>.Paininside, you are factually incorrect in pretty much everything you said regarding the stock market. The notion that the stock market is even remotely an indicator of the health of an entire economy is laughable. Essentially you're saying that, as long as those investing have significant capital invested, everybody is inherently doing peachy!<
So? Short Petroleum futures and win, and then come back ![]()
well maybe 2 decades
well maybe 1 decade
harder to be more hardcore zionist than the Israeli PM
stocks reflect what people who trade stocks thought they could get for selling stocks that day
I got it because Gwenydd is Australian.
So I just waited til he gave it away. <dragnet theme>
i don't think it's a pro democrat move
i think he's decided 15% of the workforce can't be allowed to camp out on unemployment/disability instead of changing careers, so he's creating pressure to make solving unemployment a priority
Yes it is open ended; they will buy bonds from now on until YOU PEOPLE restore the economy.
They don't print money btw
they order banks to give it to them.
See in order for the FDIC to guarantee 100% of deposits it requires banks to keep a set % of deposits on hand as cash. Like, maybe, 20%. They work to calculate how much. Too much, and the banks will lend 90% of the deposits and the taxpayer has to make that up if it goes sour. Too few, and the economy slows down as credit dries up.
So what the Fed is doing, after figuring out what's safe and necessary for the bank to keep in the vault...they take it out of the vault, and give the bank an IOU.
It can only go wrong if all the banks fail at once or something, and that can only happen 1 in a 1000 years. Well ok maybe 3x in a 100 years, as recently as 4 years ago. But what are the odds?
i believe the record since WW2 shows we can end recessions a lot sooner than Obama has
we have every potential to expand more use of natural resources and expand power and transport to our larger population in a very short time, if we remove the legal barriers to that
The boom wouldn't be permanent but it would be a boom and it would raise the general economy of the country and lead to a higher, more developed economy.
Whether Romney will do that or even begin to do that, I don't know.
I do know Obama won't and is happy with the way things are now.
well couple of facts
2/3 of Egypt 2012 was born since 1979
And if Mubarak was a valuable dictator-ally he'd still be there. Any dictator we gotta prop up...ain't worth it.
meanwhile in the Mayor's office
Rahm Emmanuel: You SON OF A BITCH! I made a clean deal!
The Devil: AH HAHAHAHAHAHA
money and guns will teach them to love freedom
the only good Jew is a live one ![]()
although now I'm hearing "Obama ended the Pax Americana" and that's bogus
Pax Americana held because we pledged our economy, technical advantage, population, industrial capacity and nuclear arsenal to confront enemies
That ended a long time before Obama
" Now the middle east and north africa are a powder-keg, which are infiltrated by the next generation of terrorists from the battlegrounds of Afganistan and Iraq, resulting in the riots in Egypt and Libya or the ongoing civil war in Syria."
whaddya mean *now*?
we're building a caring society where schools will be sued for allowing kids to get HIV on the playground
"Lets say they did go with a federal lawsuit, which they could have lost.
When they lose, does the judge set a fine? And is this fine paid to the family again, or to the gouverment??"
Pengy would know the details of ADA...some states like CA there's a *fine* in civil rights lawsuits, here it's $5000. But sometimes there can be "Punitive damages" usually for extra malicious behavior or very callous indifference, on top of compensation for lost income or expenses paid out
owning property with slippery steps that I didn't know were slippery - no punitive damages
owning property and not giving a damn that somebody slips after every rain - maybe punitive
owning slippery steps and watering them then betting somebody will yell like Goofy - prison + punitive damage in civil suit
>>Also why would that lawsuit be so expencive? I really dont see the 'damage' the family had to be that high? (perhaps the child had 1 year without school and maybe some shrink costs should the boy need it because of this)<
ha ha attorneys fees and costs are a dark parallel dimension.
Lawyer spends 20 mins drafting stipulation at $350/hr. Assistant spends 10 mins at $150/hr to copy it and fax it and mail it to opposing counsel. Opposing assistant spends 5 mins at $150/hr to receive and flag it to attorney. Opposing attorney spends 5 mins at $350/hr to read it. Opposing attorney spends 30 mins discussing it with associates, thats $350x 0.5 x 3. Opposing attorney spends 5 mins signing it and typing cover letter. Opposing assistant copies and faxes and mails signed stip. Assistant spends 5 mins receiving and flagging stip for attorney. Attorney spends 10 mins to read and sign stip. Assistant spends 45 mins making 4 copies and a proof of service, original and copy to courthouse, copy to opposing counsel, and copy to client with cover letter.
that's 2.15 hours at $350 an hour and 1.25 hours at $150 an hour
$752.50 + 187.50 = $940 in fees + postage + copies at $0.15 / page
and that's to agree on something.
The Justice Department announced today that it and the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania have reached a settlement with the Milton Hershey School of Hershey, Pa., to remedy alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The agreement resolves allegations that the school violated the ADA by refusing to consider a child, known by the pseudonym Abraham Smith, for enrollment due to the fact that he has HIV.
Under the settlement agreement, the school is required to pay $700,000 to Smith and his mother, adopt and enforce a policy prohibiting discrimination and requiring equal opportunity for students with disabilities, including those with HIV, in the school
